WEEKEND WEATHER FORECAST
==========================
Issued: 0900 hrs, Friday 23rd September 2016
SATURDAY
---------------
A brisk southerly flow across the UK and Ireland on Saturday. A front affecting western Scotland and Ireland bringing some heavy periods of rain through the morning.
For much of England and Wales the morning is dry with some good spells of sunshine in the east, although windy here too.
The afternoon sees rain arriving in the west of Wales later in the afternoon, although staying wet for much of eastern Ireland, western and southern Scotland. Brighter weather reaching western Ireland. Staying dry and breezy to the east.
Winds S 20-25kt (F5-F6) in the east, S 30-35kt (F7-F8) in the west with stronger gusts.
SUNDAY
------------
A cold front passes east overnight. Low pressure remains to the northwest of Scotland with the flow becoming more unstable during the day as a trough affects Ireland.
Early rain in eastern England is likely to be clearing the far east of East Anglia and southeast England by midday.
Generally drier and less windy for all, with some bright or sunny spells in central and eastern areas. However, to the west there will be increasing cloud and this brings scattered showers in the morning.
However, the cloud thickens and showers turn more persistent over Ireland in the afternoon, these reaching western Scotland, Wales and western England. Tending to be remaining brighter further east.
Winds becoming WSW 18-25kt (F5-F6) behind the front as it clears east, perhaps to 30kt (F6-F7) in Ireland in the afternoon.
