Weigh bridge Advice??

We're in the process of building an AD plant and are looking at putting in a weighbridge in at the same time. Have any members got good/bad experiences with different companies?? Are the standard 3m ones ok, or is it worth going wider for modern flotation tyres. Any advice would be great!!

Put a 3.5m wide Weightron Bilanciai (ParkerFarm) in 3 yrs ago. The first 2.5 yrs were shocking with loads of problems mainly around the software. The last few months it's settled down but I don't hold my breath.

Initially they tried to fob us off but in the end the service director got involved and eventually wheels started turning to correct the issue, but as said it took over 2 yrs. There are a couple of excellent engineers there and without them we would of had our money back.

We opted for a fully automated system using keyfobs/cards or you type onto a touchscreen terminal so we didn't need to man a weighbridge office.

We had all the weighcells replaced once already and the entrance and exit terminals replaced 3 times. Various wiring replaced as well. Basically the only thing that is original is the metal work.

We were sent the wrong drawing for the civils to begin with as well.

Quite honestly it's been a nightmare and caused massive problems for us. The software has lost weigh files as well early on after we had it.

But it is working at the moment but we now have a much extended warranty on it and service package.

Would we have another one? Probably not!

Precia Molen look like a very good system.

Had a Parker farm weigh bridge installed 2 years ago and it's been fairly trouble free. Would I recommend them as a bridge? Yes as the functionality of ours has been faultless. As a company? No service has been awful!! We had problems getting bridge delivered on time in first place which was on doorstep of harvest, spoke to them last year at cereals to get them out to calibrate it and then turned up after harvest. Installation was shoddy to say least guys seemed in a rush to get it in that day even if it meant cutting corners had to have head service guy out in the end to put right all the corners that had been cut. Had to get out of pram a few times with them over different things and even to this day we are still waiting for a piece of T rubber for keeping dirt etc out. As I say can't really fault the product pity bout the people.

We had a avairy weightroniks ( i think it was any way) at the grain store i used to manage , they went for a 3.5 m wide , 60t capicity - the rep tried to get us to have a 44t bridge but we inisted on a bigger 1 as lorries are only going to get heavyer and theres no point in not planning for the future in terms of weight.

Parker Farm here for 8 years

Never a moments trouble other than loosing a load cell to a lightening strike and it gets a lot of use almost every day

We have used the blackcat stock control software for 3 years now, which also automates use and allows us to use barcode / fob identity / photo record against tickets etc also very good

Worse problem we had was squirrels chewing through cables- ended up concreating any culvets where they could hide and then remove any tree within 100 ft of weigh bridge .

Worries me to hear about poor service from Parkerfarm. Has anyone had dealings with Precia Molen as seem competitive? Avery seem top dollar but do they seem better quality? Also wondered if anyone has used auto ID on trailers or is big LED screen a good option. Thanks, Alistair

To be fair to avery they came out quick if we had an issue with the bridge on the computer, but then if u pay a premium you expect a premium service- to be fair they even rang up before harvest to guve the computer a service and help with the new farm names to be saved on to its system.

We had very poor service from Parker farm(as they were known) a few years ago. Try Griffith Elder, they seem a lot more on the ball.

As with Clive Parker farm and black cat stock control for the last 12 months, also had dealings with two other Avery weigh bridges and the weigh ridges seem about equal to each other but the black at software makes our current set up brilliant!!!

@Clive and others , are the weigh bridges you had when this thread was started still
weighing accurately?
Would you buy the same make of weigh bridge/ weigh cells again?
Is Griffith Elder weighing equipment, durable, reliable and accurate?
Thanks.

No. When the extended warranty and service package ran out they tried to increase it massively so we’ve removed the terminals and software and switched to a system from Trent Scales who I’d recommend.

I asked as my wife is involved with acquiring a new on farm weigher for the estate where she is one of the decision makers. The weighing system would be used mainly for weighing incoming grain trailers at harvest but the facility to be able to weigh the occasional 27…tonne bulk grain lorry is essential.

Got a new Parkerfarm being installed on Tuesday, we have done all the civils ourselves, so hope the drawings were correct.
They are two weeks late installing, so not too bad, I will report back on Friday!
