The op made a deal to buy some grass to make into hay. He made good hay , and the other side now think they have been robbed.Hang on......are you advocating stealing the bales ?, or have I miss read ?

I sold some silage to a neighbour. I wish I hadn't. But a deals a deal even if it hurts. The world of fodder
Deal breaking is common practise unless the price is falling that is
I've got 10 loads ; sorry it's all gone
At least you told said farmer they may be for sale and let him know straight away they weren’t , I never heard anything from enquiring For three weeks to pass and field baled.Fully appreciate there's a lot of frustration to these situations but I will say, an inquiry is not an agreement.
An example from some 20 odd years ago.
A Farmers son is baling straw.
Neighbour turns into field to have a nose. Stops son to ask about the bales.
Son says they've filled all the barns so it MAY be available and will ask dad.
Neighbour leaves in excitable spirits.
That evening Son tells dad that the neighbour wants the straw, Dads sold it to someone else that afternoon. Son goes to tell neighbour the news... (Not pleasant)
For months it was then banded around that the Son, (me) had "gone back on his word and is a time waster."
did u not cut and bale the hay?At least you told said farmer they may be for sale and let him know straight away they weren’t , I never heard anything from enquiring For three weeks to pass and field baled.
I do feel sorry for the son as he was only trying to put right a little white lie he told me a month or so earlier , as it seems the younger brother and mother to dismiss totally our conversation on a deal , lost nothing yep but very surprised given they farm just up the road and have used them in the past for baling etc and always got on very well as I thought , must be something we don’t know about and it will stay that way.
As for others on this thread being owed money by other members I can’t get my head around that , a deal is a deal , get paid up.
No , they cut and baled , her point was that in the mean time from agreeing a figue with the son per bale we had the start of the hot dry period and that its worth more nowD

Best to offer the current price and show you werent trying to take advantage of the son.
The mother will be thinking that.
Or just walk away and put it down to experience.
