Welding broken digger arm

I have been working for local contractor as I have been doing for several months... he has 1973 Ford
4550 digger which is well used but still fully functional however today he got it well and truly stuck in wet spot after several attempts by pushing with back acter it was out but broke a previous repair of many years of the arm where it fits onto slew.. I am looking forward to doing some vertical and overhead welding
tomorrow in the middle of field using 3.25mm 6013 rods
One more thing I will mention is when I repaired broken hinge on trailer before Christmas and welding where I used to live an RAF jet flew over not every time but too many times to be coincidence

Back arm of digger may well legally be a lifting device and subject to LOLER. I would be seeking professional advice before attempting any repairs, especially for someone else. Given what you’ve written on here before I strongly suspect you’re not competent to be working on something as important as that.
No it’s not

You defiantly didn't have the launch missile button pressed on the welder by accident??

I would nearly swear that you used to phone Gerry Andersons radio show over here in NI (that means nothing to anybody apart from ones who used to listen)

There's not enough characters in the world, don't ever change.

Always good to have something to look forward too, Have a great day, hope the rain holds off for you, I do hope you will update us, particularly if the RAF come snooping 👍

7018 be better for that than 6013, and burn them in HOT (150A+). Even though they are both medium penetration you wont get the same penetration with the 6013 as you cant burn them as hot, and obviously the 6013 has the lower tensile strength

guessing you already know but you should never run either downhill if you need it to have any kind of strength

Yes I know vertical up is the only way , I remember first vertical welding I did was on our own bale trailer I spent some time practicing on scrap first now I can go straight away also same with overhead in fact I enjoy welding something not quite straight forward
Regarding 7018 if I said the rods we are using are not suitable my reply would contain some strong words
