I do not think an air fed mask qualifies as it leaves the fumes in the air so anybody entering would be vunerable, With mig its possibly easiest to have extraction unit on the mig torch, but all are not cheaphttps://thefarmingforum.co.uk/index.php?threads/new-hse-rules-on-welding-fumes.276514/
I think an air fed mask might be the way to go but even they are £££
Taken from the HSE websiteCan you just weld outside instead?!
Appropriate RPE should be provided for welding outdoors. You should ensure welders are suitably instructed and trained in the use of these controls.
Regardless of duration, HSE will no longer accept any welding undertaken without any suitable exposure control measures in place, as there is no known level of safe exposure.
Full article http://www.hse.gov.uk/safetybulletins/mild-steel-welding-fume.htm outside only mentions RPE (mask), not LEV which is ventilationSo even outside welding needs extraction......to extract the fumes "outside"?
(Yes I know they probably mean a mask but I'm toying with the logic of their rules)
