Welger 435 belt pressure

Started on this seasons silage, and the baler beeps low pressure until the bale is well formed, then pressure gauge jumps up to where I’ve set the density. Have I got air in the system? Can you re-pressure the system? Nothing in the manual to help. Thanks.

Is the pressure gauge fairly constant when it reaches where you have set the density?

You should see little pressure on the gauge until the core is formed and the pressure on the belts registers through the pressure arms.

We had a break in the pipe that runs to the pressure gauge and had to get the dealer to re pressurise once it had been replaced.

There is a screw on valve on the right hand ram on mine if I remember correctly.

Yes, the pressure is constant after reaching the set density. But I don’t have any pressure reading on the gauge when the core is forming, then the buzzer goes off. This is even with good swaths behind a twin rotor rake.

Not sure about the buzzer going off, but forming of the core is done on spring tension. As the bale grows it changes to hydraulic tension and the gauge rises. Have you had any leaks round either of the density rams?

I can see it’s a ‘bit moist’ around the control block on the back door, but no obvious leaks. I’ll have a more thorough inspection.

About 3 years ago I wasn't happy with the bales my 435 was producing and so l spoke to the dealer and they said bring it in and the would reset the pressure. Took about an hour from memory but what a difference it made to the bale density and subsequently the quality of bale, would thoroughly recommend it from my experience.

Agree with getting the pressure checked, but the pressure transducer can also give bother and cause lots of complaints from the e link. There was an update (proportional to/from inverse proportional) but was £600 ish, so I just ran mine in manual. Only downside is that it wouldn't lift the door completely up when empty e.g. when wanting to put lock in tensioning arm, but simple to turn valve over for the odd occasion.
