Today, a bunch of my friends have received email that YouTube is going to delete their videos due to concerns of animal abuse. These videos show various dog sport activities ranging from weight pulling to ringsport or IPO competition to training to giving an old dog a "fun bite" on a sleeve. This is what seems to be behind it -- a press release/letter from PETA.
If this happens to you, please appeal the deletion. Ask them to explain what is abuse. Oftentimes, the first review might be a 10 second review by someone sitting in a computer farm in some other country. Make them take a closer look and explain the problem. Working dogs, sporting dogs, dogs having a great time and doing things with their people are NOT ABUSED DOGS. Fight back. And no, PETA does not own a large share of Facebook--they own less than 1%. What they do have is a very big voice and a lot of gullible animals lovers who send them money. They don't use their money to help dogs or cats -- they use it to promote their goal of no pets ever, no working animals ever, no livestock ever.
If we want to fight them, maybe we need to join or create our own lobbying group. There's a few out there already -- National Animal Interest Alliance is one of them.
