Now had both of mine done, the last 12 months ago, In and out in 36 hours and having followed the rehab instructions to the letter, both are as good as new. My advice is to do as you are told, particularly when they tell you not do do certain things!
I woke up and had a chat with the surgeon just as he was finishing up. Got him to show me the top of the femur that had been taken out. I could see why it hurt, the top of the ball joint was cratered like the surface of the moon!
The only draw back is having a full pat down search every time you go through a security scanner!

If it is like when my uncle had his done (lives in France) they don't let you get on too fast kept in hospital for x long then moved closer to home for convalescence for x long then allowed home at weekends but to be back for 8pm Sunday night and then finally allowed home.

    Hope the operation goes well!

  14. OK so back in the land of the living,,, up at 6.30 and showered,7.20 taken down for per op including spinal block, never slept really during the op. too much drilling and hammering. Took a little longer in recovery because my legs refused to work or at least I could not move them straight away but all well now. Likely had a drink of water and not thrown up:):) like last time. Just asked the nurse (and she is nice) for a coffee and an éclair but she told me to wait for dinner!
    That's the pair done now.
