Welsh BPS payments 2017

WAG have had all the information since 1992. If it was a simple flat rate payment system, with no goalpost moving, it could be administered by a little old lady in a Portacabin with a laptop.
I see absolutely no reason to congratulate WAG on a job (handsomely paid) well done.

I'm overjoyed at receiving the " message ", though.:D

Very true, field sizes etc have changed very little since the original IACS forms, somehow they manage to change some of ours every year some by only 0.01 of ha

ps everything says paid:)(y)

I think seeing as they've had the information needed since last May they should be able to pay everyone the same day or within a week. I think that's what some people get hacked off with when its really late.
There should be a box to tick...

Same as last year?

BACS takes three days - 01.12.17.

It only ever takes 3 days from WAG (I'm not moaning btw, I've had experience of the RPA over the border:banghead:). I pay most of my bills and receive plenty of payments via BACS, and most are almost instantaneous.
I received a payment from Canada for some semen on Monday, which was sent the same day. Cardiff is an awful lot closer than them....

It's not a WAG thing - this info about payment arrangements came from a UK bank, which informed us that 3 or 4 days is the standard arrangement for these types of payments. It's a Banker's Automated Credit Service (BACS).

I suppose you are referring to a 'bank transfer' (BT), which is same day (within certain limits).

There is a also a FT (Faster Transfer') which is a speedier version of BACS, I think.

No it's called facing up to the real world.
That's an interesting perspective, from a psychological point of view.

Any farmer can 'face up to the real world' by not claiming BPS - it's a voluntary scheme. Thus, any farmer can choose to run a business without EU assistance.

A few actually do this. Do you, I wonder?

What the comment suggests instead, to me, is a desire to impose your preference that other farmers do without assistance, when they may choose to claim.

That's seeking to impose your preference on other people - illiberal at best, hypocritical at worst.

No. Which is why I could afford to vote leave.....;)

I think 7610 super q made a fairly light hearted comment, the presence of the emoji would illustrate that fact(y) Did he actually vote leave I don't know.
I cant honestly imagine that many voted leave simply because they do/did not receive bps payment.

Are you really suggesting that we should all send the money, or any money that comes over the next couple of years back or refuse to accept it. That certainly is not the real world.

What ever changes come about as a result of brexit, we will no doubt have to cross at the time.

Oh yes they did...

As everyone knows, I am a fairly chatty sort of chap, ready to fall into conversation with anyone with anything interesting to say. I can't help it, I am interested in people.

Anyway, I digress.

I have spoken to many farmers who voted 'leave' and, in explaining why they did so, justified it by referring in disparaging terms to other farmers who receive 'big payments'. This is repeated, time after time, so that I suppose that it is a surprisingly strong motive for leaving the EU.

It's depressing, but it's assuredly true - it's not about improving your game, but spoiling someone else's. It's a very illiberal viewpoint, and one that is unlikely (I believe) to improve the lot of UK farmers.

But there again, that's not why they voted 'leave', is it?

I can’t say that i’ve Come across anyone that has that view, leastways as a reason for voting leave.:scratchhead:
I do however see a strong similarity in your perception, to those that vote ‘anti Tory, anybody but tory’. Their main aim appears to be to take away the perceived advantages that ‘they, those that are better off than I’ have.
