When I was a kid we used to do B&B on the farm. The following video was made by one of our guests circa 1974 and sent to me recently. The lanky kid with the big hair would be me :)

The 3545 Zetor would be the only new tractor my dad ever bought and was only a couple of years old. My mum, in the apron, died young and this is the only video of her in existence that I am aware of. Quite a snapshot of history that may be of interest to some. Amazing to look at the place now, it seems it was falling down around us back then. The shed in the opening shot did fall down in fact and was replaced. It certainly looks a bit smarter nowadays. A great place to grow up though and I wouldn't have changed it.

Brilliant video. Be good to see how the farm now looks
My grandparents used to farm were my parents now farm. Milking nearly forty cows at there peak. I can talk for hours with my gran about how it used to be. She is 94 now and there isn't much she can't tell you about the local area.
Keep the old pics and vids coming!

Write as much down as you can, or record her talking to you, even if only her voice.

Spellbinding! You are so lucky to have that film, especially if you lost your mum so early. I often think it's a shame I never took more pictures back along, but colour film was expensive and we never had a cine camera.

That's brilliant.

Dad used to have a cine camera and used it a lot. We've got lots of ploughing matches, weddings and shows, but not much of the family farm. There are bits though, which is good. Not much of Dad or Mum though........they were usually holding the camera.

I had them all put on video a few years ago. Must get them on DVD.

That's really great Mog. I remember your mum and it's good to see her captured on film. She taught my OH in Sunday School. Can't get over your father's hair style. I'll have to pull his leg about that. Can't wait til the Mrs. comes home to see this. She's going to love it! Thanks for the link.
