Took a load of rubish.... I mean stores to welshpool today, averaged over £50, I'll take that cos one or two were no bigger than rats, and all lambs gone before Christmas. Look forward to the next crop now.:arghh:
We’ve got ours down to about 60 so I’ll chance them until the new year now.

Got a feeder out with them however there’s still a lot of grass about.

We took a trailer load to Welshpool today. We were on two minds what to do after the border closures last night.
As it was a drop and go system there today we decided to put a reserve of £2 a kg on the lambs .
The trade was a lot better than we had anticipated.
Our trailer load averaged 223.02 ppkg for white faced welsh and texel lambs. We had the top ppkg for a bunch of texels in the standards weights and they sold for 245ppkg . Second top ppkg of the day out of 3500 lambs. Well chuffed with that as we were expecting to have to be bringing the lambs back home if the price had collapsed.
Hope the trade holds out now for the coming weeks during a transition period.

What weights? I’ve got some drawn for Cally marts tomorrow

Yes it is about demand for lamb. But it also looks a bit like an import ban/ trade embargo. Which in turn could be construed as punishment or retaliation for Brexit and denial of access to fisheries. All of which feed into the supply and demand complex surely?
Its many countries , who are just doing what they think is best to stop bringing in a new rampant strain of covid 19 .

Ask Eustice that one. He has apparently put the no export / Brexit 'buy up' scheme on hold, because lamb prices were good. Perhaps he's expecting us to ride it out.

And perhaps aim a few spears at Hancock and co. for egging up the 'mutant ninja variant' of SARS-Cov-2 which is pretty rampant all across the world, and giving the Netherlands and France (and others) the opportunity to close borders a week earlier than 31st December. A dry run?
Nope, nothing more to say to them, no spear throwing either from me.I didn't vote for them or it, so my conscience is clear and I'm happy I've done my bit In that way all I can do really , being a practical rather than 'political ' type (y)

but I cant quite muster up a 'Happy days'
P.S. there are in different Covid 19 variants in different Countries , ours is special in its own way ;)

Welshpool 21/12/20 SL 215.3p LT 217p STAN 221p MED 217.5p HVY 202p o/W 174.6p sqq 218.2p o/a 211.8p 3510 lambs and 2900 ewes

Welshpool trade copied and pasted text from text from ruthin market. There was over 7000 lambs there past week though so much reduced numbers. Not a lot to complain about that though.
