Welshpool, not wanting export lmbs.

See on there Facebook that as France has closed borders to UK, there saying trade will be bad, for those nice lmbs. Just shows what can happen one day to the next.

St Merryn @ Merthyr shut for the week with COVID too. I had a trailer load drawn out of the shed to go this morning, some of which will be knocking overfat next week. If I turn them out for a week they will turn to sh*t, so I’ll try to keep them separate with 1/2 rations on troughs.

Anyone that takes lambs into market lambs this week, regardless of whether they are ‘export types’ or not, will need some Vaseline I reckon. Dealers will do very nicely picking them up and parking them in a shed for a week.

I suspect most will be lucky to get any in dw next week anyway. With a reduced week killing, the slots will be filled by contract lambs and those the dealers beg and put in sheds this week.

The week after is after January 1st...

This thread is about buyers not wanting lamb.

Which is simple Common sense even without buisness sense coming into it.....if they cant sell it,what are they going to do with it.?

Ask Eustice that one. He has apparently put the no export / Brexit 'buy up' scheme on hold, because lamb prices were good. Perhaps he's expecting us to ride it out.

And perhaps aim a few spears at Hancock and co. for egging up the 'mutant ninja variant' of SARS-Cov-2 which is pretty rampant all across the world, and giving the Netherlands and France (and others) the opportunity to close borders a week earlier than 31st December. A dry run?
