Thought I may as well try my luck on this forum page and see what if any chances there are that I could get a permission for some metal detecting in the locality.

I have National Council for Metal Detecting membership which comes with an underwritten indemnity for Civil Liability Insurance of £10million, which has been agreed with the NFU.
Having just started the hobby I am in need of some fields on which to practice as my local council are rather precious about the fields they are responsible for and detest anyone digging them.

If anyone cares to drop me a reply I can be more specific on where I exactly am located and hopefully reach an agreement about what do if anything is found.

Thanks all

So I’m guessing farmers are very protective of their land also as not even had any reponses either negative or positive.

There are 13 pages of similar (very similar!) requests in this sub-forum. Most posted by folk who post the advert (that is what it is) then rarely, if ever, return except to have a bit of a "chip".
Some free advice, you are asking for access to someones home, garden, factory and business all rolled into one.
Would you let someone walk around your garden/home based on a single post on an internet forum?
Either hang around and learn something and contribute or get out locally knocking doors, using farm shops etc and get known to the farming community.
Getting permission is the hardest part of the hobby but the retailer of the machine won`t have mentioned that!! (y)
