This is my 1969 Series 3 Lotus 7, it's the grand daddy to all yours!
Nearly finished, almost ready for the road, 1600 Crossflow with twin Webers, an unmolested barn find not run for 30 years. Engine rebuild, everything stripped, cleaned, painted and reassembled.

Wicked! Often wondered how an MX5 would get on with the rotary engine from the RX-8? Wicked little engine and so compact, tonnes of revs which is ideal for a light little car.

Already been done, more or less. Mad Mike Whiddett shoehorned a custom quad rotor lump along with two turbos under the bonnet of an MX5. Power? About 1,200 BHP.

Nice build!
I'm no expert but could that chassis not be repaired?
It seems to be made of box section so the front part could easily enough be replaced/repaired? Or was she bent further back?

Good work on the wiring, that's a big job building a loom!
Keep the pics coming, nice to see something a bit different on here.
She was bent a fair bit on the other side also for the work involved to replace the front end, I thought f it new chassis as they are stronger now at the rear and have extra bracing
Cheers for liking my work

Very nice that will be mint when it's finished and worth a fair bit too

Check this out and yes the speed is in mph , Build by Andy forrest a highly modded westfield with mad wing's to keep it down it's 4wd LS v8 twin turbo 1000+ bhp home build and it a just mental

Jeez that thing is quick, the way the speedo climbs up to 150mph is mental. :D:D

You have to help me here, what sort of lap time would your Westfield do round Knockhill? and say a good road car like RS Focus/Golf R?
Likewise say a touring car from BTCC? That video is obviously quick but its difficult to gauge how much faster than other stuff it is.

I have been there only twice, once many years ago to watch the touring cars, John Clelands time, and again to race karts on the little kart circuit for a YFC competition, bloody froze to the bone both times!!!

My blue race westy did 53sec lap time my new red one 55sec ,superbikes are at about 48sec I think . A road going focus rs Mk 2 may do a 59 but that will be right on the edge.

It is his business but it’s still home built not a big factory of research ect

That is a bit ridiculous, I always wondered how the little car would do with 220 hp from the little 2 rotor in the RX-8.

It'd go alright, but you can get that power out of a stock bottom end MX-5 NA or NB with a turbo kit anyway, which'll be cheaper and you won't have those pesky tip seals to worry about.

As to ridiculous, I have a side gig and share a unit with a guy whose heavily involved in drag racing, hill climbs, and other forms of motorised insanity. Some of the engines I've seen him work on have recalibrated my definition of "ridiculous" somewhat :ROFLMAO:

Didn't know he'd started doing LS stuff. I remember him as the go-to guy for Subaru engine mapping.
