Hi all I wonder if anybody can help,I've got a Westwood t1600 lawn tractor which wont start on the key .
I've changed solenoid, ignition switch, battery still not joy , it starts and runs runs fine if I short the solenoid terminals.
I'm thinking saftey switchs ??? Does anybody, know there locations , also how many are there? I found the seat switch tested works fine also pedal switch works fine .
I would be grateful if anybody could shed some light on this for me please, mark

First things first, check if you have a spark, if yes its fuel, and visa versa!

Test all the cables for 12v or -ve from the battery through the switch and to the starter solenoid. Could be a dodgy cable/connection and you may also find another safety switch on the mowing deck.

Hi there , it runs if. I short. The solenoid across the main terminals, works fine. Just wont start off the key

Im no expert, I have had the same problem on my Countax, the solenoid has gone open circuit! I would fit a new solenoid...

Sorry I know this is an old post but we’re having the exact same problem with our T1600 hydro, I can’t find any mention on the parts list of a relay or it’s location on the machine, whereabouts did you find it please also what year is your machine? I had petrol tank out a couple of weeks ago and didn’t notice a relay. Would be very grateful indeed of any help, Julian.
