Westwood Tractor Mower - Mobility issues

Hello gents, I'm no mechanic so please bear with me. I have an old and was reliable Westwood T1200 ride on mower. The ignition/solanoid is U/S so only starts on pull cord. It has been stored in the garage for a couple of months after last use but I now have a problem with getting it moving.
With gears in neutral and other mechanicals set the same it was almost impossible to turn over, so much so that for little apparent movement in the engine the tractor was dragged sideways so much force was needed. I checked the oil level (1/2 full), I rocked it back and forth in gear, I pumped the clutch in and out to no avail. Finally I managed to turn the engine over properly and quite easily when the clutch was pushed in. I replaced the spark plug and fuel'd it up and the engine fired up after two or three pulls, cracked it! NO.
Selecting any gear including reverse causes the engine to stall when the clutch is let out even when on full throttle. All wheels are free and mower can be pushed when not in gear.
I'm stuck and don't know where to go from here, help please.

Hello ,is the belt stuck to the transmission pulley, have had this a few times. It does sound like that was the issue with the engine end until movement freed it.jack the wheels up and try then and repot back if no luck

I think the T1200 is hydrostatic?

Good advice to check the main drive belt to the rear trans-axle, you don’t want to break that belt, as it’s a pure pain to fit a new one!...if it’s the model I’m thinking it is.....

Edit:...I might be thinking of a T1300?...:scratchhead:

Depends on how it was specced when new, you had options.

Plus if it's an orange one it's definitely manual.

Thanks BertyTEF! And other gents. You were very close but provided the solution anyway. It was all my fault :( I jacked it up as you said and after a lot of tugging on the belt proved it was free to run but still wouldn't. As I tried to logic the answer I remembered that I had started to retro fit the PTO for the grass collector. First stage is a red rubber doughnut. The doner vehicle had the bolts coming up from underneath but I couldn't fettle them in so fitted them bolts going down. Long story short, the bolts were acting as a brake! Numpty! All good now so PTO will have to wait for better weather. Thanks again everyone from not so sunny Suffolk.

Solenoid for these are £20 if not cheaper on eBay. We were a countax dealer for 3 years. If you have a Westwood with a pull start I'm guessing it to be 20yr old ish.

I don't think its young :)
It has ignition switch and key and I believe potential for electric start although the battery is good I stand NO chance of figuring out what's wrong with the ignition/wiring/etcetera. The key which is a "make-do" turns the ignition to "on" but there is no 3rd position (sprung/start) like on a car, maybe its a make-do switch as well? Pulling isn't too bad but key start would be nice.
