I wonder if fert is overratedSame here, spent the same on fert as I normally do so got a lot less and still have loads of grass….what’s the bets it goes tits up when I get the mower out
We might get away with it for a year or too but eventually pay the price with our type of poorer ground.I wonder if fert is overrated
Plenty lush green grass here even on fields wifh no fert on.
Grazing ground will maybe manage without but i wonder if we could get the silage clamp full without fert, i doubt it
It happens.... as I too, can testify.....Takes after her mother with her vicious streak

15mm this afternoon..... Thank goodness. Looking like some very sparse forage crops still.
Grass was disappearing in front of my eyes and maybe 5% of the Conservation seeds drilled in late April has come up.
Was chatting with a lass from your neck of the woods and she said it was raining at 5pm.... Sorry to hear you missed it...Nothing like that here… again. Just a few spots in the wind.
My Glastir strips are up though, with enough dampness to get them as established as RPW require.
Fodder beet is just peeping through, or some of it anyway, but fat hen seedlings clearly germinate from a dew.
I’ve got a 6 year old daughter who wants to be on with sheep or in the cattle sheds doesn’t want to go to schoolI said that to the wife tonight when she came home and the 3yr old was naked. Not unusual. But her bedraggled hair, filthier than normal appearance and
"mummy look at my hand, one of daddy's fugging lambs jumped when he was injecting it and he poked himself in the hand with a needle but it was OK so I tried to whack it and missed and banged my hand but im OK." Draws breath "fugging sheep daddy should shoot it".
I was in my coat and waterproofs roasting but dry, she refused to wear her coat and was prancing about in q t-shirt, pink leggings and bright red patent shoes straight from nursery! She spent too long with me during lockdown and now she likes to swear just occasionally for effect. You can see it in her eyes the little devious spark of the devil when she does it
But yes wet here on and off all afternoon!
Fert worked too not like the last two years where it only worked laterIt couldn’t be any better and only put 25kg acre of N on grazing ground due to the cost of the stuff
Surely with the way things are going, extra winter forage can only be a good thing? Might not need it now but in 12 months? No N put on grass here so far this year, not that I ever put much on, and been busy topping to reset grazing fields for the last fortnight, rather than lose quality.
I have but a bit of PotashpluS on some of the best clover fields, and did put Fibrophos over most of the grazing last year before the price lifted. Clover is taking off nicely as a result, as was the plan.
I’m going to be forced into wrapping a bit, but no need of extra bales on my system and would rather top to return nutrients, than pay a fortune to remove them and sell the bales for bugger all.

We ain’t had that much down here, rivers are very low, a few trying to silo! But gone a lot cooler than it wasYouve had a nice bit then, you wont be taking any harm?
Ive just looked on our gauge, we're on 82 mm.
Weve a nice bite of grass, a lot farther on than last year.
Weve had a run of very dry mays the last few years.
If it steadies up now we will be doing ok.
Most I know who stopped using N haven't gone back, particularly on grazing.I wonder if fert is overrated
