I was watching some swale ewes being sold in September averaging £140 four crop mainly
At the time I thought that would make a mule shearling or white faced ewe breeding a good cross Texel lamb near £200
I would guess they will be nearer £180 and if they are they will be cheap

Are they very rich because of the sub.
Most of them seem to have a luxurious newish bungalow. with top-of-the -range furniture.
And a poshish car. And a few of the hill men can pay eye-watering sums for draft blackface ewes this side of the Irish Sea.

Just seen some suff x mainly full mouth some missing an odd tooth scanned 160% £160 look dear to me average sheep

TE usually buys them sorts for about half that
And sells them to some dairy farmers son in Devon for double.

This Tuesday that was, I read that this afternoon, sound some cheap ewes there but you’d have to see them I suppose, could be some right cretins!! North country mules, scanned doubles £130

! Welsh ewes £40, again you’d have to see, an the disease risk is immense buying inlamb ewes, could be buying yourself a fecking nightmare that consist of a lot of dead stinking lambs!!

We were discussing this today. Would it be roughly on average the price of ewe plus £20 a lamb as a fair value ? So a shearling ewe worth £160 scanned for twins might be £200 but a draft Shetland worth £40 with a single scanned would be £60?

Yes that’s not far adrift but if it’s a poor spring I think folks won’t be going to £200 on a regular basis

Wouldn't be so bad if it was the sub, they're just bloody nuts. well seen that most of them have some other source of income and aren't depending on making any money from their purchase. Have been buying springing ewes for near forty years and its not a quick way to becoming a millionaire.
