What’s in lamb sheep going to be worth

A good ewe with twins at foot might make £300 ) £100/head).

The same ewe sold in lamb 2 months previously might make £180.

Those prices are at the upper limit, but it shows how much extra folk will pay for a ewe already lambed.
I’d still take the £180 and think I was well in. That last month before and the first 3 weeks after lambing are bloody risky! 😂😂

I’ve some NoE mule hoggs ex Lazonby, in too the Rouge. Nice bodied things, touch pale in the face. Will all be scanned at the end of this month. If anyone wishes too bid me £180 each at them I’m very open too offers!

Whenever I've tried to sell in lamb ewes it's been break even at best (purchase price and cost of carry).

Ewes with lambs at foot seem to be the most expensive way to buy sheep.
I like selling ewes and lambs, it make no difference lambing an extra 50 ewes but makes a hell of a difference to my bank account in may selling 50 brokers with lambs at £75/life. 90 lambs off the farm with nothing done to them and 50 less ewes to shear and pick the dead ones up in late may and June.

Its the risk of bringing something into your lambing ewes and you don't know what the tup was like or how accurate the scanner was.
Last 3 years Iv bought a problem in buy buying inlamb ewes 🤦‍♂️😂 and none of them have ever lambed when they said, had what they said and 1 batch didn’t even have the same breed of tup they said… so finally learned my lesson this year

Around 200£, for twin scanned ewes l was thinking, guy l know got some x things at lanark, leen as wood for 80£, they, ve improved, not lmbing till April, he's going to sell them once there scanned instead of sell with lmbs at foot. Should do OK out them. I wouldn't like to lmb them.
