What’s the point in straw merchants?

No its like saying I have suppliers in 23 counties like a lot a lot of straw dealers. Some have had nothing last harvest but we have had enough so far to keep us going, but yes they are finding it like the one who just payed £270 ton at auction . Probably 20 years worth of dealer profit [emoji19]

We’ve been bedding with hay for weeks, mind we have a LOT of hay. Nice stuff too, a bit heartbreaking bedding with it

Better than buying straw , mind you if you roll out the bales the cattle can have their own cafe .

I can assure you if you shop in over 23 counties it exists , I've still got some telling me they have plenty to go at yet

Certainly a strange year for me, normally I sell half my straw, this year I only have half what I use, so literally a quarter of normal. Mind, grain itself was worse

Torrential rain after drilling wet soil
No frost until Christmas - massive bvd especially in barley and oats
Rushing to buy a drill to get out of a jam, a good drill but for his situation had huge wide rows - in the rush I used it that way and that made all the above worse.

No that's the point .
I load in 23 counties remember like a lot of merchants . I still have a fair bit to go at .
I value my customers and my suppliers. Loyalty working both ways
I feel sorry for those farmers who don't have a regular merchant or there local farmer who had none as they are paying a small fortune at these Auctions
