What a day

Had a first for me today, had to take kettles of boiling water in to lambing shed to get water to run, so windy and freezing cold with snow, about 4inch, really grim, had to put a few wee lambs under the heater. Can't remember the last time there water pales had ice in them , May be2013, Can't think any lambs born outside would live. Hopefully this is the last of the cold and snow. At 3:15 this morning it was snowing like polystyrene balls. I looked the shed, luckily there were none lambing and went back to the chair for a couple of hours sleep. What's weather like down south?

We had a set of small triplets born outside this morning from a ewe lamb hypothermic fortunately found in time so brought them in and warmed up. This shearling Wiltshire horn found a bit of shelter to lamb down, and she’s kept her twins in there all day, I took a scoopful of nuts for her, as she didn’t come out with the others for hay. Don’t think it as cold here as elsewhere but that wind is absolutely biting.

Weather is a bloody nuisance. Hoping it should clear tomorrow as forecast to get warmer.
