What a waste of money

There may well be reasons why my point of view is flawed, but; why not run longer trains more frequently on the existing railway?

Does anybody really need to get anywhere a few minutes quicker?
Makes more sense to have extra coaches on existing trains so that everyone has a seat, and run more of these trains per day.

Is this theory totally unviable?
Currently trains seem to come in two sorts, the ones that are packed like sardines and the ones that are practically empty

Okay, so maybe much longer trains might not be practical, but what about a more frequent service?
Plenty of trains are too long for platforms now they just tell you which carriages to get in for which station and dont unlock the doors on the ones beyond the platform.

Swampy's son is now the go-to eco warrior.
I think HS2 needs to be seen for what it is, a job creation scheme and subsidy to the construction and eco-compliance industries; which also brings some much needed local infrastructure improvements, and a 100 mile long nature reserve on its back.
Don't think its got much to do with getting from one den of iniquity to another 20 mins quicker.
