What age for Road Fund Exemption.

At what age does a tractor become exempt from being subject to needing a Road Fund Licence ?

Agricultural tractors are free, zero cost at any age at to moment , unlikely the government will alter it, and if it is old it will be historic, also free

Still needs a RFL no matter what age. It goea from being agricultural tractor to historic vehicle but same cost per annum!

If its built or first registered before January 1981 it can be an historic vehicle
Tax free whether agri or historic

Its an historic vehicle if it was made before 1981 so no tax to pay

Don't forget if you change it to the historic class,it becomes exempt from paying anything but you can't use it for haulage or hire and reward.

Many people have complained, they were not given a choice, it was changed they like it or not.

I know. My 1968 135 was changed and they refuse to change it back to agri. Told them it is occasionally used for topping and hayturning for reward but they don't want to know. Stuff them and carry on.

I have a wee beavertail, but it's 92, think it could still be used for vintage tractors etc, but unless they change the cut off date I'll be too old to use it.

Don't think it keeps rolling forward ,think they update it every few years

It's rolling forward. Last year, if the vehicle was first registered before Jan 1980, it could become exempt. This year it's 1981 and so on.
