What breed of hen?

I have some mixed pekins that I hatched from a friend's eggs last year. The Lavenders (not frizzle) are what I want to keep and build on. I have various related pekin pairs that I was hoping to sell at auction, but lockdown got in the way...

I'm collecting some cream legbar eggs tomorrow (just because they are very local), then I was going to swap whatever hatches with the same friend for more lavender eggs/chicks. Whatever I get from him will be related to what I already have, so i'm probably better getting chicks from him and finding some unrelated eggs from somewhere to go in the incubator straight after the cream legbars.
Black mottled ,pekin x silkie , mill fleur , and loads of others if you want some eggs ,might have a few pullets spare too
if you want owt , will ask her

I'd certainly be interested in some pure lavender pekin eggs if there are any, and I've a Millefleur cockerel spare if she is looking for an unrelated geezer.

Yes she has some eggs , but small as pullets just started laying ,
And would like to see some pics of your cock.

I'll get some decent pics, I won't be offended if she's not impressed.

I have a white one too who is quite smart.

I wouldn't need eggs for another 3 1/2 weeks at the earliest.

There are 400 lots of hatching eggs at Clitheroe Auction online sale today, over twice the number at the last sale. Could be some bargains, but it means that you have to get to Clitheroe to pick them up tomorrow. That won't put some folk off though, they need an excuse for a day out. I sold a pair of Spangled Hamburgh bantams on Preloved last year and an old couple drove 2 hours to collect them.

If you just want a practical chicken, I'll chuck in the Rhode Island Red (Pure). That's not the standard orange hybrid hen on commercial farms but they are very practical and sturdy birds. The original orange hen started as a RR cock over a LS hen but its moved on a fair bit from then. Light Sussex I've always struggled with egg shell quality. Maybe bad luck / breeding. Copper Marans are good, maybe a few less eggs but sturdy and good foragers and if you want a selection of pretty eggs I would also go for Araucanas of some sort. Far better layers that Cream Legbars in my experience and better shell quality. Welsummers good birds too. Also Orpingtons although they seem to be high fashion at the mo.

I have a welsummer cockrell free to a good home, better than any guard dog he chases the mil away🤣, thought it would be funny to put up a sign too, " beware of the cock" .
