What can and cannot run on red diesel from March 1. 2021

I'd just do away with red completely and let farmers or construction claim the duty back. Fill up tractors at petrol stations etc on a key card if you get caught short and claim the tax back.
That's exactly what happens in NZ......all diesel is the same price.....we buy Road User Charge credits.....based on kilometre reading on cars/utes.. trucks have hub hubometers to record distance... we can claim back off road use via a rebate

I think it is much more likely that the employees are giving themselves a red diesel bonus.
Brother works in managment/purchasing in a large utilties mainteneance depot using multiple diggers and equipment. Installed a card fuel system tied to each machine/hours/miles. Card system reader on bowsers and main tanks. 25L drums banned off all sites and vans. Diesel use has dropped 3 - 4000l per week on average since it was installed a year ago.

Sounds like those were the good times.

For perspective it would be interesting to know how much total use is/was
