What can the world learn from the livestock sector?

Am I the only one that finds myself shouting at the telly when News at Ten comes on?

Here's an example.....

The UK is free from sheep scab (yeah, I know it's not but bear with me).
Some bright spark decides to fly in some sheep from South Africa that just happen to have 'omnicrom sheep scab'. On the way the plane stops off in Europe and drops a few 'scabby' sheep there. Europe sends some of their sheep that have been in contact with the SA ones to the USA.

Two days after the SA sheep land here and get mixed in with a load of sheep in London which in turn get taken to markets all over the country, Boris says, "FFS, all our dipped sheep have got scab. How did that happen??"

Next thing you know every feckin' sheep in the country is at risk and the government are flapping about like a load of headless chickens 😡

When will they learn?
What's the point of 'dipping' everybody in the UK if the rest of the world aren't bothering/haven't the resources to do it.
This covid thing will keep mutating in places that aren't fully vaccinated and if morons from the UK can't stop flying round the world to those places and bringing different strains back we will just keep going round and round and round in circles.

Shut the feckin' borders until the rest of the world catches up with the vaccination programme and let the country get back to work.

Park all the planes up and gas-axe the wings off 90% of 'em while they're there - it'll stop all them silly buggers traipsing off to Torelemenos and cut a load of carbon emissions at the same time.

Why can a country bumpkin like me see it but not all them well paid politicians and their overpaid advisors??

Rant over.

I was milking one morning and on the radio it said the world health committee had met over a new virus in China, but they didn't see it as a risk to the rest of the world so didn't think any action needed taking, I stood there in disbelief.

This is why you are a sensible country bumpkin enjoying yourself with a decent life style

The idiots become politicians who have to spend all their days in meetings, wearing suits and ties and generally stressing over life (and that's on this earth---just wait until they get to Hell's fiery gates)

Advice ---throw the bloody telly away , it's bad for your health

Your herd fails a Tb test and a movement ban is imposed immediately

A new variant of covid emerges and a travel ban is imposed with 3 or 4 days notice. So you twice as many people travelling (and spreading the disease) as they try to beat the travel ban.

How stupid is that?
Yep air travel has a lot to answer for !
Climate change and Disease spread but nobody cares because it's all money!

The present pandemic will have been no surprise to some experts who have modelled disease in poultry flocks for years. Poultry diseases are just like those in humans. Wild birds spread them between domestic flocks that are kept in intensive conditions- exactly the same as humans choose to live.

Much can be done for human health by monitoring diseases in livestock as they are ripe conditions for a mutation of a virus to arise and then be passed to humans. You couldn't dream up a better situation.

I had that exact conversation with one of my herdsmen this morning. Just replace sheep with cows and bvd

Liberals making a lot of noise about it being ethically imperative to keep jabbing everyone in this country 20 times a year for the rest of our lives to protect the vulnerable and minorities.

But the same people conveniently ignore the ethical dilemma this creates by denying vaccines to poorer countries where the virus mutates then comes back to us again. But of course being liberal they all support unlimited travel, sod the environment and disease risk.

They love it because then they can remount their moral high horses and call for yet more jabs and lockdowns and continue the cycle for as long as possible all the while shoehorning in narratives of covid racism, vaccine inequality, because climate change and so on.

Or to put it in livestock speak how can you possibly expect to keep your own flock disease free if they're constantly mixing with the neighbour's that have those same diseases? It'll never happen.

Of course Australia and New Zealand have managed to keep an awful lot of diseases out of their National flocks by banning imports or, in the short periods when they have let genetics in, only with lengthy quarantine periods and extensive testing.

I think they rapidly cull the whole lot if an infection comes to light in those quarantined imports, but I suspect that bit might not be such a popular COVID policy.🤐

I disagree about the telly, there are some great channels nowadays, ie Talking pictures , Smithsonian ,Yesterday and Drama to name a few ,social media on the other hand is full of (sh) it ,from mindless drivel all the way through to brainwashing of the vulnerable, which actually really is bad for their health and best not to partake at all i reckon.

The problem lies in the fact that most/vast majority of our politicians have never held a proper a job that's relatable to the real world. Compared to the politicians of the 80s/early 90s (regardless of political party) whom many had real life experience of running businesses, our current 'cream of the crop' seem to be mostly PPE graduates or solicitors.
