What can we do if blocked in or out?

Following on from the thread about the farmer who "moved" a car out of his drive with a telehandler just what can we do if blocked in or out of our land or on a road blocked by poor parking?
In an ideal world police would come out and sort the situation very quickly but in the real world they just havn't the manpower.
So what can we legally do?

Something doesn't quite make sense about that story. Its always been my understanding that blocking access to a public highway is a criminal offence. So either Plod doesn't know the law, or for some reason the road in front of that house is an unadopted road, or there is no dropped kerb, so the vehicular access to the house is illegal anyway.

I wish it were the case that one could block in cars parked in farm gateways and demand a £100 release fee, it would be a nice little earner!

A local car was left blocking a lane into one field while the occupants were having a meal in the pub. My dad asked at the pub, politely if the owner could move it and the bloke came out, very aggressive and said he'd move it when they'd finished. Dad sent me down to park a loadall bucket of muck in front of the car with a note saying we'd gone out for supper and would move it when we got back. Left it till the morning, car was still there, must have got a taxi,so took the bucket from there. Message received.

I too believe they wrong, but it may be a civil as opposed to criminal offence. Feel sorry for both parties, I am aware of that App and also aware that it has caused issues in many places. Often used instead of airport parking to have a strangers car on your drive for a fortnight would really p you off!

Had a local woman park across 2 gates today at 9.30am (I could see from a long way away), it was tight for a campervan to get through, I know the woman and knew she’d gone to the beach on the farm here. 22:15pm she has come onto the farm yard here to turn around and head home 🤬 Also had 4 other idiots park at the end of the farm lane, a lorry wouldn’t have got in and neither would mowers!
Or emergency services were there a H&S related incident with an Ag machine.

Simple tine extensions with one placed just behind the front wheels to get a safe balance point work well - I suppose an EV balance point would be somewhat further back.

Had someone park on our designated parking space at our flat, daughter left several notes to move it but it stayed, I asked a customer who is an ex copper, he said it's a private matter and you aren't really meant to move them, but if you do so without damage then police normally turn blind eye, however he said dont tell them as first thing they will tell is dont move it and if you do they will likely prosecute you, I turned up with chains to drag it onto the road but went round all the flats and found the owner and he moved it without much fuss, we fitted a bollard which solved the issue

A few years ago, a woman kept parking in a stubble field and walking her dog Asked her not to do it, but ignored me.
So on next occasion, I parked my tractor across gate way and locked it and went home.
Shortly after she phoned up demanding I remove my tractor (police had given her my phone no. from dvla records !!) , I told her I was having my tea and put phone down. 10 minutes later, police phoned up and told me I would be arrested for entrapment, even though she was free to walk out. Bloody T@ss#rs!!

Let them arrest you - then sue for wrongful arrest. You can’t “entrap” a car.

Might be illegal to block a public access point to a highway (eg from a public car park) but surely can't be illegal to block the access from your own land? If I want to build a brick wall at the end of my drive, that's just my business isn't it?

Didn't @Clive impound some Contractor's kit last year until they paid a release fee?

Maybe consider imposing a Lien on the vehicle ?

local farmer was peed off with cars missing the tight corner, after a long straight, and smashing his fence, and no-one owning up, he removed the tax disc, left a note, saying where it could be collected from, and their name and address, to claim off their insurance.
The police were soon knocking on his door, demanding the return of disc, he explained why, their response, if you do not return it now, we will arrest you, and we will not tell you who the owner is.
Removing a tax disc, is obviously more illegal, than smashing up somebodies property, now, of course, no longer a problem, wonder how many they fine, for forgetting to renew it ........

Oh I watched a video on a similar incident.

In short, yes it could be entrapment because if you arrived by car then you probably need it to leave and you don't want to leave your car because potential for damage that might be done to it.

It's now no longer legal to impound vehicles without a licence.

I don’t think we ever found out how that turned out!
Possibly a Non Disclosure Agreement…. Or has Clive gone all shy!,

A friend of mine had the same problem he sorted it by plowing the gateside the field next time she parked
