What combine would you recommend

Currently running a mf 29 but its forever back in the yard with breakdowns.

Budget perhaps around 20k.

Must admit at them acres id just get a contractor but its not for everyone
ive used a contractor for last 11year fixed cost paid end of sept
no more huge unexpected bills it works for me.
Finding a combine in that price bracket is possible but not without its hassles at the same time.

Straw is worth more that the grain, I know a lot say they aren't bad on straw but Im unsure

This is the trouble these in the day were brilliant machines but there getting on a bit now.
there will be suitable machines under £10k never mind £20k but its the maintenance on them if you unlucky that kills them.

there is nothing worse than waiting for a contractor, I have only experienced yellow ones, the biggest expense apart from stone damage has been belts but they should not be a reliability issue if they are checked for cracks I would recommend a TX or a TC as they are uncomplicated, I think the best place to buy a combine is at a farm sale as very often they are traded in for a reason

thats the problem with buying another.its bound to need some parts that the previous owner didn’t want to spend on so traded it in. Best keep a bit back to pay for a good service. Or maybe have you’re own given a good check over and run i a bit longer

Buy a really tidy JD 1075 for 10k and save the rest of the money. I did twice that acreage with a 1065, bloody brilliant combine. 1177 would eat it also.

Claas dominator, nh tc/tx or 80 or as said above budget will get in theory more jd 11 series or case axial. Just talk to a few of the s/h boys as some models for example it not possible to get some bits like the engine in some tx 32’s or the electrics in tf78’s possible worth a call to manners

My last TX34 (M reg) had a powerstar engine in it, same as TX64? at the time.
