No, it was all smoke damage, until numpty from over the road put front door in, then a few flames, but controlled. Apart from my tractor collection on shelf.
Unbelievable, but smoke even got into light bulbs,
Next day with help. Just painted whole house.
Put it down to experience,
We had a similar thing nearly 25 years ago only it was started by an electric fault! Fortunately it happened in the day and my mum smelled the smoke coming down stairs. The entire upstairs was a right off due to smoke damage, it even ate into the porcelain in the bathroom, new windows, ceilings, pretty much everything. I was lucky that I was living away at college and had a lot of my personal affects with me but I did lose a vast Lego collection ☹️. However my mum dad and brother lost everything from upstairs but had it happened at night it could have been far far worse!!!

Having a smoke alarm in each room and shutting your doors could easily save your house. Never open a door you think a fire is behind
There where smoke detectors but they could have been located better, however the damage was done by the time the fire brigade got there. We where lucky someone was downstairs to raise the alarm otherwise the house would have gone altogether! I fitted interlinked smoke alarms when I did my house up so if one goes off they all do.

Sounds like a wise plan! Never knew such things existed.

I guess it can be hard for you to hear the alarm going off in the servants quarters in the East Wing if you are entertaining in the Drawing Room! 😛

All new houses should have interlinked alarms for building regs. There is two main systems, one uses extra wiring to link them up, the other is radio based so ideal for retro fitting into older buildings.

Thanks, that’s handy to know. Every day is a school day.

I guess @Phil P went for the wired version.....I’m not sure that the wireless range would cover the distances required.

Moved from Christmas to birthday season here now!
Youngest has been conducting a campaign of hints and not so subtle hints since his brother got the Technics rally car.

So dad gave in!!

Does seem to have slowed him down a bit. Plus he's lost a part for the driveshaft somehow.
Might have to be some dad bodging required. :banghead: :banghead::banghead:
