Good evening, my name is Charles and i'm a final year student at Harper Adams University writing my dissertation about farm diversification in East Anglia. I am running a questionnaire concerning the amount of diversification and what people are doing. I am hoping that some of you may be able to help me here is the link https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/MBBHW76

Many Thanks

Charles

Good luck - I have always been told that the best form of diversification depends on your core business. In the case of farming anything which generates regular, reliable cash has got to be the winner.

depends on what you have to offer as an individual and what means you have. There is no answer to this question. We were heavily involved with excavating for a utility company but thats now gone and construction is well swamped plus the margins are too tight for the bother.

Renewables have been good for me reducing overheads, also once installed doesn't require day to day management like some diversification opportunities. However I am in the process of converting some barns into holidays lets, so will see how that goes!

I would say research what you want to look into use the assets you have is key or minimal expansion on what you have. Once you chose what you want to do don't go back on it as it will cost you more than going foward.

get yourself and I mean your business online, with farming, sell what you produce online.
A certain plant wholesale is 0.15pence. the same plant retail is 15 pounds. So is that a enough reason to get yourself and your business online. The more variety you have the better it is.

Send the wife out to work!
Diversification is all well and good, but puts no more hours in the working day. We do cheese from our milk, biogas, and electronic controls for farmers, but it all takes time!
