I’ve driven DMax auto there not a bad bus.

Auto Ranger is better though and be my choice. Fuel they ain’t as bad as folks make out. 3.2 auto will do 30mpg if driven sensibly.

Took my bosses 3.2 ranger auto for 250 mile round trip on A roads and couldn’t get over 25mpg driving like a granny. My own L200 warrior will do 32-33mpg quite comfortably. Nice motor to drive but that wouldn’t want to be fuelling her

It could be it has learned your bosses driving style, our auto hilux drives differently if I drive it for 4 or 500 miles.

Ok thanks for your replies going to look at an isuzu 2.5 auto. Some say they are slow to change but I guess you can drive them manual anyway?

Yea you can drive them in manual. I cant really comment if there slow to change or not as its the first auto ive had but i like mine

For me it would be a hilux, a hilux, or failing that a hilux. Might not be the comfiest, fastest or beat on fuel but keep going, 3 hilux and 500k later nothing other then servicing.

I wanted a hilux but i couldn’t go past the deal on the isuzu i di t have any regrets yet log of d max pick ups around here

The biggest advantage to the Navara is you buy one and you end up with two. The only pickup that can achieve that.

They are not the only ones that break in half, but granted they do have a higher failure rate on the old D40 model than other makes. Its still early days, but not aware of any later NP300 that have the same issue, but the oldest of these will only be about 6 years old

General consensus on here seems to be:
ford’s suffer oil pump failures and have pee poor dealers
Isuzu‘s dump fuel into the sump
Datsun's chassis’s rust and snap
Toyota’s are reliable, but gutless and thirsty
Mitsubishi are thirsty and some older models suffer head gasket failures

None are perfect, I’d just buy the one you like most, from a reputable dealer if backup is important to you.
