What goes on behind the scenes for TFF to function?

What happens if a Sponsor /advertiser objects to a certain thread etc.
How much influence do they have?
None. Zero. Zip. Nothing I do here is influenced by commercial considerations. To stop total sales type posting, we encourage supplier members to maintain a directory listing and to join in with help and comments on the main forum. Works well and - obviously - there are some suppliers who are both successful and also popular forum members too

What actually happened to/on BFF? Was never a member
I don't think it was simply a case of they 'closed the doors'.... Amazingly another forum with a suspiciously similar name and layout just happened to be in its infancy and pop up in all google searches for bff

Corporate sabotage more likely than simply closing the doors

I've never seen any Chinese posts , and TBH I like the forum . There must be times when it needs a rather heavier hand on the contents , but that's only to be expected , given the diversity of the forum correspondents , some of whom will inevitably try to push the limits . Personally I think the staff do a pretty good balancing job

That probably as we have added a lot of chinese words to the spam filters to stop it. Thanks for the kind words.

Out my depth asking this question, but one can see that the forum software is “XenForo”, but is the software being tweeked regularly to keep up with the forum needs?

Must say I never realised how many people involved and how much financial income must be required each week to pay the bills.

Ignorance is bliss to those that know no different.;)

there is a lot of customization to the software and the ways its hostsed, its all getting a bit "over modified" though and some of it was done very badly in the past with little foresight hence our need and current projects to upgrade to newer version of Xenforo and much better hosting solutions

If Clive had to buy us we must have a value. If you buy a farm with livestock they have to be valued, starting with the pigs

Perhaps best be careful ,as Clive might say ,TFF must have a value to you so how about a £52 a year subscription.
If one multiplied the theoretical number of members 32,225 x £52 that would be an income of £1,675,700 !!!!

It has been tweaked a fair bit in the past, but that actually makes upgrading the software more complicated. So the key is keeping everything as simple as possible. Over the past year we have un-picked a lot of that complication behind the scenes (without anyone noticing) so we can update to the new version of Xenforo that has been released. A big part of that is the new classifieds system, that hopefully you will all be able to see soon.

The main things that get tweaked weekly are the spam filters, which constantly have to be updated to keep the spam out. Although I've never quite understand what value they get from putting up posts in Chinese on here.

Any chance that the search function could be tweaked? Switching to a Google search gives the answers i want but it is all a bit messy.

I have posted on here less than a hand full times, but I read/ look all the time over the last month or so its becoming more and more of the same stuff posts trying to undermine and carry on that the forum is corrupt or so it reads. Why do people write that it is, is it or is it just an agenda trying to ruin some thing that makes people feel part of something. I love reading what's going on in farming having bin born in to it and love it. So why ruin it! !!!
