@holwellcourtfarm That is a real p*sser. Been out today replacing the same, not my favourite job whacking posts in the ground. And knowing I'll be doing it all over again in a few years' time no doubt.

And while we're on the subject of fencing, bloody gorse bush that's grown through the fence when I wasn't paying attention. Now it's a chainsaw job and try and chase down all the bits so they don't get caught in the sheeps' wool or blow into the hayfield.:banghead:

I think it was @roscoe erf that didn't soak them for months in a barrel of old oil and it didn't work.... @ladycrofter @holwellcourtfarm

"Difficult" weather. Want to spray the beet but it's too wet underfoot, then it's dry but too windy, then it's raining.

It's never "just right" except at 9 pm on Saturday night or 5 am on Sunday morning when usually it's perfect.

We never get people using the public footpath except when we put a hurdle across it to guide the sheep in then a group of 30 will appear.

Rotary lawnmower blade types. Why are there so many variants of an 18" blade? Different hole sizes, etc etc. Why?

And why does the tiny fuse in the mower electronic unit blow when you put a charger on the battery? Then it's a radio spares job to get a pack of 20 X 5 mm fast blow 2A fuses. And all I wanted to do was mow the lawn.

Useless engineers/fitters and non existent customer service.

I've had 3 examples in the last week where bad workmanship has caused no end of bother and I'm left to pick up the pieces.

I usually keep quite calm and can talk my way round to getting the desired result but the fuse went today and I lost it.

Its been a long week and we are only half way through.

We've got posts we put in at dad's in 1974 that are still sound. The posts I replaced today have ruled off totally inside 3 years!
We are using chestnuts instead of those rotted sort.

What grinds my gears - especially when we have nothing else to do apart from lambing the second flock, calving, spring drilling, rolling, fencing, the VAT, end of the month, rpa forms and one or two breakdowns.... generally doing 12 or more hours a day 7 days a week.

"Hello, we would just like to come and do a sheep inspection, could you gather them for counting, tag reading and 20% will have to have blood samples taken too. You have 48 hours to comply" "Oh and I will need to see all of the paperwork too of course" "You will have part of your subsidy withheld if there are any significant errors"...

What about the nearly £10K they didn't pay me last year due entirely to their errors then, is anyone being fined for that?

Feeding sheep this morning, not looking where I was going put my leg into a massive rabbit hole (erroded over the years by other creatures, our dogs mostly, and weather) fell flat on my face. So annoying!

Looking forward to a meal out at a pub with a good reputation for food. We get there early to get a table as the place is always heaving to find an empty car park, a virtually empty bar, new tenants, poor choice of beers, a mediocre meal at increased prices. Another one to cross off the list.

Can't be hard to make a marmalade sandwich, can it?

My dad used to have a random hard rubber fence post in a fence. It was a square profile about 10cm on each side. I don't know where it came from, but it has always been there. Apparently he had fun trying to knock a staple into it when the barbed wire needed replacing;) (he did it in the end though, without the use of a drill(y))
