Less than respectful treatment of a long-standing member of staff at a respected business by newly employed jobsworths.

The staff member has skills the newbies will never acquire with their attitude to learning (ie, never admitting to not knowing, or to have made a mistake), knows protocols inside out, knows the established customers and how to serve them, makes the effort to get to know new customers and their requirements, and it's not unlikely that branch of the business would start to crumble without that person's capability and scope in the job.

If the situation continues, a good local business will lose a vital member of what was once a good team, and might just lose a customer (ie, me), to boot.

[Grrrrrr!]

Sowing grass seed into the night.

First my car battery died taking seed up the field so it's still up there.
Then the tractor fan belt started slipping in sympathy.
Then somebody had left the drill with some seed in it.
Then the bout marker fell off.
Then it got dark due to the delay.
Then it ran out of seed about 3 runs before the end which has never ever happened before.

It's only a 4 acre paddock but it's taking more clatting about than drilling 25 acres of wheat.

Tomorrow is the search for a local bag of grass seed "we can get you one for next Tuesday" and hopefully finish it off before it gets too wet.

Yes I know it's all my own fault but you can't beat a good whinge.

Guy who drills our grass always carries a spare half bag of grass seed with him just in case he gets a blip and has to throw a few more in to get him to the end of the run. It can be a massive time saver, except his seed was short term rye grass when he ran out one year on one of our fields and I spent most of the year thinking I must have put an extra thick load of slurry down one side of the field or something. He spent all year looking at it and regretting it... our seed was a late heading variety for grazing, and it meant that the rye grass was always rejected by the cows and going to seed and needing topping. Twice as much in a row when mowed for 1st cut though.

Normally we have a spare bag in the shed for such eventualities but was a special horse hay mix and brother wasn't happy about just chucking half a bag of rygrass and clover mix in to finish it off. I might have missed a bit as well when then the boutmarker fell off. Didn't realise it had gone till I turned and found no mark so had to judge it. As I tow a Cambridge roller behind and the land is also rolled before drilling, this way no easy task, especially with headlamps about as bright as fag ends.

Trying to work with someone who does not have an opinion on anything even when you try to stimulate an interesting conversation.

Trying to work with someone who avoids all conflict, minor or otherwise, at all costs. And then changes their version of events at a later date if it suits.

Trying to work with someone who is uncomfortably secretive about personal relationships for no apparent reason, around colleagues who (gently) encourage it.

Think I have been had by this crowd. Bought a portable Bluetooth device from them three weeks ago, next day delivery! Nothing arrived and unable to contact them. Apparently [after reading some reviews] they will claim the goods have been sent so they have done their part. Paid with PayPal but getting them interested in chasing it up is a long old process of emails etc.

As I've been road hauling this week...

-The amount of modern cars that come without indicators is astounding. I'm not telepathic.
-The number of people who overtake coming up to a roundabout then pull back in and stop for it, becoming part of my braking zone.
-Lorries that MUST be driven at 56 everywhere, regardless of how narrow the road is.

Back to field work, thank god.

Why does every 5 minute job end up taking forever. Nip to check cattle and end up walking back to get tools.

Not amused!

Sorry, but a lot has got on my wick this last couple of days...

1. Mother in hospital and now ready for home...was told it would be yesterday. Waiting in 'going home lounge' most of the day for transport and nothing showed up. Hospital rang again this morning and now its today but can't give a time. Why is it that we can often get a timed 1 hr delivery slot from a carrier but can't get our patient transport sorted...meaning that our elderly are pushed here there and every bl**dy where and left waiting for hours.

2. Organised a sale for a lawn mower...collection Chesterfield approx 1 hr from here. Got there and he says he sold it a week ago but he has others. All this via message and wouldn't come out of his house...ffs what a timewaster:mad:

3. Someone parking in our gateway to some off lying ground and leaving their used 'tissue's and condom's in the gateway....Grim :yuck:

Not a happy bunny .
My Landcruiser is poorly sick ,,failed its mot ,needs abit of welding over the rear chassis ,probably looks worse than it is and the fuel tank is very suspect ,,my garage lads are very genuine and suggested a new tank as the old one will have to come of to get a good weld and they are frightened it is rusting through so Im not taking any chances ,,Luckily found a new aftermarket one from Milners 4x4 only £225.
I can't afford a fresh truck and to be quite honest ,theres nothing about that newer that isn't already suffering from chassis failures and I dont like crewcabs so that rules me out of ,,which pickup,,
My trusty old girl will have to keep plodding on

No need for a new tank. Remove and clean the old one, sand blast if you like, dont worry if it turns into a pepper pot! Tape over any holes and put a can of fuel tank sealer in. That will form a plastic tank inside the old one. Frost Restoration can supply the sealer, and there are several suppliers on E Bay.
Several vintage tractor tanks and my old lorry tank have been treated here, all with no problems whatsoever.
