Cattle crush design.

1. Half the time you can't even use them as if the beast goes down you wouldn't be able to get it out. Would it be beyond the wit of man to design a crush for which the whole side could open down if the beast went down.

2. The other half of the time you are supposed to inject intramuscular into the neck but that bit is sliding back and forth through the yoke at fair rate. So you find your halter and pull its head to one side but there is nothing purpose made to winch the halter rope round and control it other than just putting it round whatever bit of metal work you can find.

3. Self locking yokes are useless if the beast has a pair of horns.

So usually the £2k crush sits there useless while I trap the beast between a pair of hurdles tied and haltered and then inject it or attend to it exactly where needed,
The crush I have just got does seem to answer all if the points you raise and was below the budget you mentioned but they are very valid points and are annoying to say the least

Websites that insist you remove Adblocker before you can read more than the first few lines of text. I have two reasons for using Adblocker, if I want to buy something I will look for it, if not I have absolutely no interest in time shares in Spain, hanging baskets, double glazing etc. The other reason is that our broadband struggles to download text only and adverts with graphics mean the thing is still downloading by the time I have finished reading it.
I sort of agree, but the adverts pay for the internet. So if you refuse the adverts how is it going to get paid for?
At the moment I ride on the back of all the other people that put up with that crap - but I am not sure how long this will last.

I do have one browser set up to allow adverts so I can read articles - but the have to be really good to make me want to do it.

This morning we found this whilst checking the cattle...
2 young calves shot with a crossbow. One shot in the hind leg and one shot twice in the shoulder. It is beyond me how on earth any human being can do something like this, leave the calves in such pain and causing so much heartache for the mothers and for us.

Luckily for the oldest calf the arrow hasn't gone in too far so hopefully should recover with the injections for 10 days but as for the youngest one, it died as a consequence of these arseholes, the one arrow punctured its lung and killed it.

Websites that don’t work with tablets.

Trying to book a holiday cottage for the last week of July and cannot get past a box as it won’t recognise the tick mark on the tablet.

Ffs I bet most online shopping is done on tablet and iPads so at least make you website work

Have come to the conclusion that the Highway code should now state 'keep right unless undertaking'. As that's what everyone seems to do on most motorways now, especially the M25 and bottom end of the M1. I was going faster in the inside lane than most of the people in lane 4:banghead::banghead:

Don't tell everyone or they will all be doing it. In some places left hand lane tends not only to be faster but also less stressful. :)

Discovered something that really annoys me yesterday ! Annual Sunday visit to the Highland show with wife, kids and mother in law as well, so while others where wandering around the shopping and food bit I would go and have a look around the renewable energy bit as got a couple of farm cottages to do up in the next couple of years and was interested in different heating systems.....but no one seems to be able to tell you how much things cost without involving grants and schemes ! All I want to know is what these thing cost without government involvement !

The harder I try to be a farmer the worse I seem to be getting at it. For example spring barley in this year, planted the right time, had the ground tested to see what it needs, sprayed the exact time, the right fert at the right time everything I can do to make it perfect. Without doubt the worst crop I have ever grown!!! My oul boy on the other hand sprayed whenever he felt like, fert the same blinding crops year in year out.

I have a solution. Jump on a tractor, and take a drive around. Take a good 20 mile journey. I did a charitable tractor run in the weekend. I was totally depressed with the state of some of my cereals, but chugging along, looking over the hedges assured me that I'm not as crap as I thought. There is no saying more true than "the grass isn't greener on the other side".
