setting off at 7 am to start job A with tractor A
need to pick up Implement B, but Implements C and D are in the way.
better to fetch tractor B to move implement C because it might be needed on Thursday next week.
cant quite pick up implement C, because implement D is just a fraction in the way.
drive four miles back down the road to fetch correct pins to move implement D. Pick it up and notice leaky hydraulic pipe will not allow it to fold properly.
need spanners to remove pipe
drive 4 miles to fetch spanners
remove pipe
drive back 4 miles to fetch truck and drive into town to fix pipe
get back
lorry to load,
kiwi on tractor C has leaky hydraulic hose.
back to town......
fix kiwis tractor
phone rings, council want fallen tree removing thats preventing them from mowing grass in village...
etc
etc
5pm Tractor A still hasnt moved. Job A still not started....

No I’m good .
My local planner has been on leave on the sick had sick child is over worked understaffed you name it and then there’s a delay. About 2 months behind schedule now and there not much I can do about.
It is a nationwide problem, the fees we all pay for our planning applications don't cover the wages of the planning staff. All application fees go to a central pot and are then shared between the local authorities.
When we pay £206 for a household planning application and the case officer has at least 10 hours work, plus the admin, overheads etc it is clear financially the system isn't working.
Not being able to pay appropriate wages results in inexperienced planners (any with experience go to the private sector) who have on average (on my experience) 40+ applications at any one time.
The whole system is a mess and those of us working with it on a daily basis can sympathize with the planners whilst still having to chase them on our client's behalf.

I was being so cool when I put a wasp nest in the muckspreader.

I tootled off up the field and spread the load and there were wasps everywhere in that row.

Next time back to the heap, no wasps anywhere, result I thought.

By the time I had got back for the third load all wasps were present and they were all a bit angry.

Sometimes you can really regret not renewing the top window in the forklift door when it had been broken recently.......
German wasps? I've had them follow me up to 300m, how fast can you run?:rolleyes:

Facebook advertising can unleash a welcome torrent of replies, only to discover that they have not actually read the text, but just looked at the pictures. The lower the value item the worse it seems.;)
Yup, loads of silly questions, which come of nothing. loads of tagging mates which come of nothing, followed by loads of PM's....which come of nothing. I give adverts 12 hours max now, then delete them. Either folks want the item and get on and buy it, or they don't.

I find it best to put a number up and remove the ability to post comments

I paid quite a bit more than that. Which is besides the point. Civil services are paid from the tax’s we pay .
One of which is council tax which is probably where the funds should come from.
There is some much pressure on the public peruse these days.
They have, in my area over complicated the planning process and possibly cut the amount of planners by amalgamating wards which means Inevitable delays.

Eastenders effect, they think it’s a documentary and mirror the behaviour in their own lives. When encountering these folk, I find it helpful to imagine the eastenders drum beats kicking in just as they hit the peak of the crisis.

Was overheard doing this on an airport shuttle a few years ago when a Vicky Pollard type arrived on scene in a big bluster of “oh meh god”, having been held at security for not recognising her own name.

Duff, duff, d-duff d-duff d-duff..........
