The push towards 24/7 consumerism. Shop in local village was open on Christmas Day 9am till 2pm.

WTF?!

It’s a small chain newsagents/convenience store. Give them the day off ffs if folk can’t plan to go a day without shopping, it’s a sad state of affairs.

Our local is owned by some Bangla's, it's not their holiday and it's a family owned store with wife and kids in and out all the time. Not much different to all farm staff turning up to get the feeding, bedding etc done super quick with a few laughs along the way. I know arable men only go out on Christmas Day to get away from family go crop walking with the dog as it's an urgent job that can't wait.:ROFLMAO:

Our local Indian takeaway was open last night, who in their right mind wanted a rajahs revenge on Christmas night is beyond me.

Am I the only one who is fed up of all the ads for various charities that are repeatedly on the box asking me to text and hand over more money ?
Do I need to now take cover and put my tin hat on for mentioning it ?
I'm not tight but I will not give in to the type of manipulating adverts that are appearing in huge numbers . Am I wrong?
Oh those poor donkeys [emoji33][emoji43][emoji81]

Some men and many women endure a great deal of embarrassment around urinary incontinence, and they don't have to. I think it's ridiculous pads aren't free on prescription, tbh.
Women's sanitary products should be, that's for sure. As it is it's appalling they are charged VAT on, and classified as "luxury items".

Unfortunately if they were free certain sections of society would be claiming for more than they needed, if needed at all, and then selling them abroad.
This already happens with medicines from our "free" NHS.
Would you want to pay even more tax to fund criminals ?

I know. It isn't just a grinding of gears situation, it's a beyond grinding of teefs situation. The power of the "ape mind" within some people beggars belief. It isn't specific to any race or culture, it's just there! :banghead:

When townies stay with you
They walk around the house with their shoes on, get up at 1pm and moan it’s cold while wearing a vest and shorts.
Imagine when you die and your life flashes before your eyes and you have wasted 2 days a week scratching your arse experiencing NOTHING

sounds so familiar!

had the (yeah, we’re normally up about 6am) in laws up one year. They were sat having breakfast/brunch/lunch first thing in the morning at eleven o’clock when I got in.

“What you gonna be up to today then? Need a hand with anything?”

I’d been out since half 5 and sown and rolled the last 8ac of osr in order that we could spend the day with the lazybones. ?‍♂️
