Going back a few years just after the smoking ban came in someone l know with a small business and a few employees was approached by his secretary and asked if she could have a day off. Apparently she had timed the smokers and it amounted to a lost day of work, but I can't remember how long it took to get there.I was thinking about this the other day I wonder what effect mobile phones (especially smart phones) and the smoking ban (everybody now takes a "smoking break" and stands outside for 5/10 mins) has had on productivity of employees
When I left school and started work there were no mobiles and you had to have a real good reason (emergency) to use the works phone
