Me and my complete lack of self control! I am on steroid meds at the moment and the appetite they give me is immense, constantly starving. Made myself a salad for dinner, everyone else was having fish and chips. I misjudged the amount of chips and made too many, which I scoffed with a ton of salad cream. Gonna go from a size 10 to 22 at this rate! :hungry::stop::cry::cry:

Returning to the yard to find a scene of carnage. A dog belonging to someone staying in a nearby holiday cottage had visited and wiped out all my chickens. All of them, but not the daft jaffa of a cockeral who was walking around completely unconcerned that all his wives were in bits in the yard!
The dog owners are very apologetic and will pay for replacements, but all the feathers drifting around the yard in swirls is a bit gutting. :(

Can't 'like' that Old Boar. I would be so f'cking pee'd off I don't think I'd be able to speak for a while, but then I'm a soft bugger and my chooks were (will be) just for eggs and entertainment. Nell says hope you shot the dog, I'd shoot the owner.

This dog attack thing is getting out of hand or perhaps we are hearing more about it because of TFF. Either way we need to find a better way of getting the message across to the public. I count myself very fortunate that I never had serious problems of dogs getting in with the deer. The biggest problem we had was with the staghounds (and most of their followers are farmers FFS) Fortunately the two times they got in with the deer I was away from home and my wife had the problem of sorting things out, otherwise I would probably still be in jail.

I was given a leather folder/file by SAC back in the 80's/90's when participating in a trial for Toxovax. I've used said file to record lambs marked and number of ewes counted every spring since then so there must be thirty years of figures in there. Nothing of great importance or any legal requirement but very, very interesting. Anyhow, started marking lambs about three weeks ago and went to record the numbers in the file (I knew exactly where it was) and I couldn't effing find it. I've been looking on and off ever since and still no idea where I've put it. It's driving me mad!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

When my son was little and had lost something I used to say to him, "where were you when you saw it last?"
Then he used remember and rush off - 9 times out of 10 whatever he had lost would be in the bathroom on the cistern. :)

Thanks, but it's not on the cistern (I've just double checked ;)).This time last year is when I saw it last but my wife had been diagnosed with breast cancer at the time and my mother was in hospital with a serious illness so basically fudge knows where I put it or left it. :banghead: Soooo annoying though!

hope things are easier for you all now - and you'll just have to start a spreadsheet till the book turns up again

Thanks. Yes and no really. My wife has made a full recovery but mother sadly passed away in the autumn. It certainly puts things into perspective so I'm not sure why losing a record book is winding me up so much.

It's the little things lke that which get to you after the year you've had, but it WILL turn up, one day. You haven't thrown it away, nor has anyone else, it's probably in a sedimentary pile somewhere,or slipped down behind something. Just make a version of it for now (analysis book keeping ledgers are good for that - I can send you one if you like, they're cheap over here) then when you find your proper one you can transfer the information at your leisure.
For now, don't fret about it, it'll come right. :)(y)
