Dealing with a Government agency who demanded my date of birth. They had no need for it and I dont give it out. I did point out that I was the only person in Wales with my first name and surname combination, and that there are only two of us with this name in the whole of the UK, so they should be able to find me.
Apparently that was not good enough. Tough. I refused to answer and suddenly they had found me by my post code which I had given in the first answer! They came back with the old "data protection act" rubbish, but unfortunately for them, I used to teach this, so can quote the principles back to them. I think I heard the poor man at the other end of the phone wimper at one point.
Collecting data they do not need winds me up!
You're not the only one hesitant to give out your DoB. Very few organisations actually need it.

At our age, those who do should already know it!

I'm always conscious at the blood donor centre of who can overhear when they ask for "Name, address & date of birth". That's 75% of the info needed for identity theft.

And they can get the rest from ancestry.co.uk.
Mother's maiden name and place of birth.

Just been done here for £3500, and aother attempted £6k in total. Someone stealing post before it got to us. The old fashioned ways still work! :(

It's a constant battle keeping DoB off my Facebook page.:( Thought I'd won the battle, then it starts fussing about my birthday.

That moment you find your arm is already strained, so you can't write anything proper, except typing, and you go outside to empty hoover filter, not look where you are going, slip on an icy surface (note to self: Grit it!) Put your arm out to stop you, instead crash sideways on your side, head CM's from concrete and a bruised arm/hand/leg. Thankfully only slight :) Hate icy/snowy days!

now your only jealous
and stop generalising they are not all mk 1 discos and there are some lighter lorry's to be pulled out
Not jealous, owned one for a while...:love: for egg collection purposes only....
But even I, as a small minded ignorant peasant with a chip on my shoulder, realised that they are not suitable for pulling artics.
If you want to be a hero, leave these things at home, and do some shovelling instead.:)
