Bloody stupid woman up theroad from us right at the top of the hill has been shut in by drifts closing her drive. Not uncommon were she is it happens nearly every time it snows and she is quite well prepared normally but this time her water froze so i was taking water there as i was passing her house feeding. I asked if there was anything she needed as id be going through town everyday on my way home. "No im ok i have everything thank you... well maybe no it doesnt matter ill he ok" so off i went leaving her with her water saying more than ince IF YOU NEED ANYTHING PHONE ME!!!
An old beat up land rover turned up at our yard at the bottom of the hill the next day and the person driving walked up the hill. Thought nothing of it till they got back down and the bloody heap of a land rover wouldnt start and he asked me for a jump start that didnt work then needed to run a lead and battery charger a couple of hundred yards in the snow and then help them start it. Took a good half hour to get everything together and do it. Turned out the bloody woman had phoned him early in the morning begging him to get cigarettes for her FFS!!!! Id been to a bloody shop that morning getting stuff for another neighbour it would have taken me any more time to get stuff for her as well but apparently she didnt want to trouble me (it was no f**king trouble i told you 10+ times!!) But apparently jump starting a sh!t heap of a land rover is less trouble.
Shes been texting last night and this morning wanting me to dig out her drive as if i didnt have enough to do. She doesnt have to go anywere but wants it done. Apparently it will only take half an hour. No it bloody wont it will take half a day with my tractor and loader and ive got more important stuff to do. Stopped replying she can wait till im ready not when she throws the toys out of the bloody pram :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Yep. We’ve got a couple of tenants in one cottage that went properly ballistic because of the bad weather. Their water was off for 3 days, which is my responsibility, but what with trying to keep a lot of animals generally alive this was something that I couldn’t spend a lot of time attempting to sort out when there were other ways to deal with it (ie. supply them with bottled water).
Our road was blocked with a lot of snow, like 8 or 9 foot drifts in places. I have a loader but I’m right at the top of the hill and the way it handled around the yard I could tell I would instantly get irretrievably stuck if I tried to clear the road. With no one else here that can drive tractors etc I couldn’t risk getting stuck when there are cattle and sheep that need me and the loader. On the 4th day (sat) I got a kindly local contractor to come and start digging us out from the bottom of the hill.
By this point the tenants were past themselves, irate at not being able to get out etc (apart from supplying them with water we’d offered them food and to come up for a shower etc but those offers had been declined).
Early on the 4th day they phoned the police and mountain rescue and demanded to be “rescued” saying they had no water, food, oil, heating etc (all kind of false) and they were duly removed. Once my contractor had cleared the road to their cottage.
What a waste of resouces. Quite annoyed really. Apparently they don’t own a pair of boots or wellies between them.
They should be billed monthly for oxygen they are wasting.

Sounds like you need to discuss your hourly rate before proceeding.

Shes got form for doing this kind of thing with people. Everyone else she used to know that could help ignore her completley now i just have the unfortune of having her as a neighbour and feeling obliged to go check on her. Just been past a while ago there is smoke from the chimney and the birds have been fed so shes still alive... might see if i can get a loader there tomorrow. Maybem

AHH but as farmers all we do is sit back, collect bps and subsidies, pillage and destroy the countryside and don't do a days work. So why wouldn't you have the time to dig her out you bad bad neighbour?

That I should have more imagination when it comes to snowmen! A few years ago I did make a snow sow complete with piglets suckling in the yard, but nothing as good as this!

Next time when you want to dump your milk into the dirty water tank that's desperately full .Don't leave the pipes flat in the field so you can't find them under 6inches of snow and ice!
