What is a small 8 year old combine worth?

Just out of interest, its not for sale.

What would a New Holland 5030 combine with 13 foot header (and header trailer) be worth. Only done 120 acre a year, never washed (cleaned with compressor) only caught in odd shower, housed when not working (open fronted shed so some moisture from fogs in winter) dealer serviced alternate years. greased daily of course. No add blue one of the last without. 2013 model.

There was a little Massey Combine sold at a farm sale which going by what you have described it had lived the same sort of lifestyle, it made over 70k so I would imagine that if a New Holland is as good as they are made out to be then it would be worth more.

But you will need two willing buyers to get the highest price!!

What hours, why would you sell?

I don't want to sell it, just curious as to how much the deprication was, maybe not much. It had replaced a 40 year old machine & 10 year old similar machines seemed over valued. Access a bit poor for contractors machines & we prefer small combine for little bales which we do 100%

Although of course money invested in property has almost doubled in that period, but I did a bit of that too. No tax releif on property which was a factor.

Flip how do u justify a new combine on 120 acres of crops

I see your point & covered it in previous post.

A bumble bee can't fly according to science, but it can. The money was earn't from farming (not cereals), inflation considered I don't regret it.

Hands in pockets at current new machinery prices, although 40% tax bills may force some expenditure

You can't drive a house past your neighbour 😁😂🤣.

We brought a new T6030 in 2008 for 28k. It got stolen with 600hrs on so brought the same again early 2009 for 36k. Just looking for a second hand one now and with 3k hours they are 30k!

Once you own it, the cost of running a machine like that would be minimal. Depreciation would be very low or even negative. Plus you can go whenever you want to and shouldn't have any drying costs.

So contrary to current thinking, you are probably better off owning it if you are not in debt as a result.

Don't buy something just to save tax. Instead of paying HMRC you are just giving a big dollop of depreciation to a dealer - who then pays tax on their profit. Celebrate paying 40% tax as it shows you are making a success of your farming business.
Put more in a pension, maximise your ISA and give the maximum away to offspring each year to keep your bill down.
