What is a unit of fert?

what is a unit of fert? I know about the cwt to kgs but some people talk about units to the acre,

its like a notional figure equal to percentage of a 50kg bag, so based on the percentage analysis printed on a bag thats the number of "units" of each nutrient - as above
uk figure based on P2O5 percent and K2O percent as opposed to EU figure of P and K elements

Yes the ones who would sow 1800kg if you tell them 3 bags an acre

Similar happened to me when I was 16. Had a bag left over after spreading WB (600kg) phoned the chap and said I had a bag left over. He said spin it out on the grass paddock round the steading (couple acres at most) oh how he laughed about it

A unit is 1.12 lbs /acre of nutrient
(112 lbs/cwt, analysis is a percentage of the fert}

You could put 3 units a day on reeseed grass , old grass won't get near as much response

I found some when I dug up a water pipe recently ICI blue bags.

Removed loads from the roof of the farm house we are doing up at the moment, seems they were a good alternative for a membrane under tiles !
