What is a woman?

Just posted this link in another thread but, on consideration, I think it deserves a thread of its own.

Matt Walsh is a journalist and presenter on The Wire in the US; although I agree with him on some things, he has an evangelical Christian agenda which I dislike. However, he has made a very good and entertaining documentary about the 'trans' issue, with particular reference to children, and did so objectively, without bringing in his own dogma. He made very good use of 'silence' in the interviews, which many do not.

Even allowing for the fact that he was in charge of the editing, some of the interviews - uncut (no pun intended) - left me temporarily lost for words; my ignorance of the views held by some people has now been reduced. It horrifies and frightens me that there are people out there, in positions of great responsibility, with such a warped sense of reality.

Watch it and share your thoughts...

Aren't these transformers a good idea? They can break all sorts of sport records and have bespoke use bodies which might come in handy for maintainig the human race post ww3 nuclear destruction. Win. Win! Now, what shall I be today?

It’s the slow decline of western civilisation, hardly surprising that Vlad thought he could get away with trying to reclaim the Russian ‘empire’.
I don't think so, in fact I think it's gone down the road that 'racism' has as an insult. Meaning that it has been thrown about so wildly that it no longer has any power.

These idiotic trends happen, but there comes a point at which their ridiculousness simply becomes too much for someone, that individual (or group) openly contradicts it and then everyone else - not having to be the first to raise their heads - bravely follows on behind.

I've had disagreements with wannabe-women twice now, both times when I objected to them sharing a public toilet with my little girl. And on each occasion the individuals in question went off in a huff, one after an attempt at a discussion, the other the moment I raised an objection - and people who had witnessed this didn't throw rocks at me as a horrible bigot.

I think I am pretty reasonable and share the same view as most people do in this matter, i.e. that it isn't my business and I don't care what other people do in their private lives within the law.

But... I draw a line when it affects me or my family - or others - in an adverse way. My little girl doesn't want men sharing a toilet with her, I think that is entirely understandable and I am prepared to support her in this, regardless of what is thrown at me. And so is nearly everybody else; but because a tiny minority shouts so loudly and, frankly, bully others into silence, they get away with it.

But the Emperor's new clothes don't really fool anyone anymore, and the numbers allowing themselves to be pushed around is continually diminishing. :)

I tried watching this as soon as it came out but was some subscription thing with wired, so thank you for the link.
I know a headmaster at a private school. He's had trouble with this but handled as any level headed and sympathetic person would and the child in question ended up going to prom dressed as they should and happy with their original gender. 90% (I think) of confused kids end up back as their cis(correct term?) gender if they don't get persuaded by these gender bending perverts along the way. Most confused people will sort themselves out in time provided they have support and whatever the outcome is, great, but why some have to be dancing around with unicorns and rainbows is something I can't understand.

Anyhow, back to the Headmaster....... he's worried it's coming to this country in a big way and me having a six year old too: So am I.

Thankfully , II think the world is waking up to what nonsense this is. Yes there are some desperately sad people who need help and consideration but there are many people trying to turn a personal tragedy into a major industry which they can turn a pretty penny from. Sadly of course the media bear a lot of responsibility in promoting these charlatans

If you take Dr Grossman's figures from the video anywhere between 9 and 33 in 1 million have gender dysphoria.

She also repeats what Robert Winston said about sex on Question Time, she'll no doubt get complaints.

One of Mrs Danllan's cousins is married to a Consultant Psychiatrist who specialises in juvenile gender dysphoria, which is a very real thing, though extremely rare. I am delighted to write that he is a superb individual and not at all like the disgusting examples we saw in the film. He thinks enormous harm is being done due to the current trend and has said that in some places, fortunately not around him, it is an uphill battle.

He is a very strong individual and the department around him reflects him, and parents from a very long distance away do there best to get their children to him and his colleagues. He isn't the only sane voice in the profession, far from it, in fact he reckons a significant majority are on the same side. But... he has said that the number of doc's prepared to push children through transition is slowly increasing, and this is the same internationally - but particularly in the English-speaking countries.

His particular concern is that hospital boards - including some lay persons - are the route by which departments are / can be pressured into taking the wrong course. This, he thinks, is because the 'soft' sciences tend to be well or even over-represented on such boards, and these 'disciplines' do trend toward the lefty-identity-politics side of things.

For the record, he is a bit of a 'lefty', but in the traditional political sense only.

Unfortunately I don't have one hour and thirty four minutes in which to watch the whole video. But to take a stab at answering the question, i think it's worth pointing out that sex and gender are not the same thing, though most people mistakenly think they are. Sex is a biological term, and for most people has a binary answer, male or female. There are of course naturally occurring exceptions to this, and always have been. Gender refers to traits, social roles, identities etc. We all know biological women with many masculine traits, and men with feminine traits. Indeed, we all have our own individual combination of each. Free expression allows those to be more visible, while binary societies tend to suppress them. E.g. in Russia, men are expected to belch and drink and fight with each other and dominate their wives etc.

As with sexuality, there is a gender spectrum. It may well be that the majority of biological males tend to show a predominant expression of masculine traits etc, but this is society dependent, and can be affected by how the society values feminine traits in a male, as per Russia example. In contrast, Jesus of Nazareth exhibited many feminine traits e.g. maternal traits, like forgiveness, nurturing, acceptance, encouragement, empathy, refusal to wage war against the Roman occupiers and so on. These are the traits Christians tend to value in Jesus, without realising the gender implications, and are in contrast to the ancient Jewish interpretation of God as father, angry, vengeful, violent, retributive...

It's a complicated thing, and is poorly understood by people like the interviewer, who only seem equipped to compute binary questions and binary answers. The answer to every question has to either be a one or a zero.

Haven't got time to respond in full to that now, but, in brief... what a load of boll ocks. (mostly)
