M is for Manual mode, so the engine speed and transmission will work independently of each other. The foot throttle will control engine speed and the stick is your propulsion. I never use it in manual mode, I can't think of many applications where you would.

Perhaps if you are bogged and you want a blast to try and get yourself free. So you would rev it flat out and push the stick forward and it would engage and spin very quickly, where as if you were in normal mode, you would put your foot down or stick forward and the engine and transmission would work together, but in such a way as if it was just normally driving in a field, and not delivering the burst of power or drive that you would need.

I did try it once, but that was stuck with 12t of maize in a wet year, took the forager to pull me out!

With right side of split throttle fully forward and stick pulled back, we have no foot throttle until the "M" light is on.
So it drives like an automatic car, but it needs manual button engaged to do so.
Doesn't make sense to me 🙃

That's right. So then you would control the engine/throttle speed with the pedal and drive speed with the stick.

When it isn't in manual mode then the pedal controls travel, being a continuously variable transmission the engine and transmission work together, so there's no real need to be operating the 2 independently.

I can't think what need there is to use the pedal as a 'throttle'. I.e. tipping a trailer, the tractor will stop and hold itself and I just use the hand throttle and then move on the pedal. Then return the hand throttle back to idle and away I go on the pedal or the stick.

So having a hand throttle and 2 engine pre sets kinda eliminates the need to have a foot throttle.
