An interesting article. However, the one phrase that caught my attention was in the third last paragraph. It said "We simply don't know". That about sums up this article. They have not got a clue, they are merely writing to fill up the column inches.

They should come back to us when they have a real story.

The DUP have indeed always been Eurosceptic. They believe in British rule, not the rule of the UK by foreign governments. You could probably also tie religion into their viewpoint - the EU is not a predominantly protestant organisation when you have the likes of Italy, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, etc, involved.

Who remembers Paisley Senior opposing the visit of the Pope to the European Parliament. They told him to shut up and sit down or they would turn his microphone off. Paisley told them to go ahead - he was not using the microphone!

Maybe the thread should be entitled What is the future for the Republic of Ireland?

It seems as if there is a bit of internal disagreement in the EU at present. A French farm leader has called for a hard Irish border. It might not be great for NI, but it will totally ruin the Irish agricultural economy. Maybe that is the idea from the French - ruin Ireland and hope to gain market share from them?

Good heavens no. That should be a separate thread. This one is about NI. With its largest political party burning tax payers cash for ash on one hand and laundering cash from obscure sources on the other hand, the future looks kinda unknown.
I did think it was mainly the shinners who spent and made funny money, but it seems more mainstream than I thought!!

Perhaps the DUP have taken a course in the Glasgow Rangers school of accounting.

David Murray. that geezer took you and I for £250 million .. His unpaid debt to BOS . Shameless . a lesson for our age . That's rangers accounting for you . A club ruined . A debt never repaid . and the foreign players brought here killed the game in Scotland for decades ....Ned's spivs and speculators have a lot to answer for.. jtt.

Straight fight between Simon Coveney and Leo Varadkar for FG leadership @Ashtree ?

Not really looking like a fight though. Varadker seems to have it wrapped up.
It's kinda strange down here looking at the lightening speed of societal change.
We've gone from a Catholic Church controlled society to a same sex marriage society, with a now likely openly gay Taoiseach.
Phew. I cant keep up anymore.
Now ............ if only we could just keep the Shinners up your side of the border

I see NI Secretary James Brokenshire, has resigned due to poor health.
Hope he gets better soon.

Wouldn't it be a perfect promotion for Boris .................. sure to confound the silly buggers in SF and DUP into forming
a government pretty quickly.

I see we get Karen Bradley as the SOS NI.

Also Barry the abstentionist MP for West Tyrone gets a 3 month suspension from all SF party activity, while still being paid by SF.
(SF MPs due to their refusal to take oath to HM Queen and thus their seats at Westminster do not get the MPs salary they do however get expenses/allowances due to some agreement when T Blair was PM, Various Conservative leaders have during their time in opposition have suggested they would stop these expenses/allowances to them. To date nothing has materialised)
