What kind of bed tiller do I need?

Good afternoon all.

I grow a wee bit of veg, a little of most things on around 7 acres total.

I've used a Howard rotovator up until this point to create deep filth for carrots and parsnips, however it is approaching the end of it's working life and machines of a similar vintage seem in a similar mechanical state!

What kind of tiller would you therefore reccomend me replacing the Howard with.

Single bed only required.

I would just keep looking on eBay until a decent rotavator came up. Can't remember the make of mine but I think it is Kuhn.
Alternative would be a small power harrow but they are no more common than a rotavator and you would need to be ploughing too
A set of discs might just do what you want but I doubt it.

If you're on kind land , power harrow (with blade type not tines ) will serve as a cultivator and rotavator depends how much trash you have to deal with after cropping.
105hp on 1.65m is well boss of it ,IF you could find a 2m power harrow I'd go with that. you could get nice and deep when required, I'm pulling 3m with 85hp but not carrot or potato depth.

Any number of used 1700 bed tillers about ex potato bed ahead of destoner, many had option of blades or spikes.
Find one without the ridging bodies and it won't be any more expensive than an ancient rotavator.

What about depth control without the bridging bodies?

I think skids or wheels would be easy to sort, mostly the tractor carries some weight rather than the ridgers anyway.
