What late sown crop to grow

Linseed, peas, maize. If you're sowing barley or oats they will need to be treated as very low input and low output. If you've got a big blackgrass problem I'd consider cleaning the land up instead.

Same boat here with 3 fields, clay, have worked it down with a Subdisc but am going to put some green cover in beginning of May, get it all set up for a good 1st wheat. Have drilled SB late on clay before and to be honest it wasnt worth the time and effort as never seemed to get going, it may have just about wiped it's face but nothing more.
 
if you have spring barley seed plant it very cheap to grow and earlier harvest than any non cereal crop
then plant wheat after will yield similar to a first wheat late grown spring barley will not give much takeall in the following wheat last harvest I had some yield as well as first wheat
