A NH 8360 is probably as good as you'd want and your bound to find one for 12k.

Mechanic doesn’t think so easily and I think the issue may be that there is just not enough oil there

If its a Tiger6 then the external services oil comes from the gearbox. The three point linkage is self contained and has a separate reservoir and pump.

It is a simple gear pump and really should be adequate at 60 litres a minute max flow. Beware that the JD 3050 and most other 40 and 50 series tractors will have LESS oil flow than the Tiger and the flow will be further reduced when you turn the steering.

If the Tiger's gear pump is worn or it is fitted with a 45lpm gear pump, it might be possible to fairly cheaply upgrade to a higher flow pump. I'm not entirely sure about that on the Tiger, because its pump is mounted at the front of the engine if I remember correctly, while Laser models have it on the side of the gearbox.

Have you actually checked the flow and pressure of the pump? Given it a proper health check rather than guess? Have you cleaned the filters, including the big canister and changed the spin-on one?

Tiger really is getting on a bit in age. Nearly 40 years of age for goodness' sake! It's a wonder that it hasn't been eaten up by oxides or recycled by now.
Also, it is underpowered for this job. You need 150hp approx. Something far bigger and more powerful than a poor little antique Tiger.

If you can justify a wagon that size then you will have to justify a matching tractor and fuel to run it, plus the inevitable maintenance/repair costs of both items.

It will be doing 250-300 hours a year, which is not insubstantial for an antique tractor from the 1980's. How long would you expect the PTO clutch to last on such an underpowered tractor? Which of the two coupled machines would be master on the other?

Come on, big wagons have 2 speed boxes and the hand lever pto clutch was a great thing. The engines were pretty bomb proof too if looked after. Sure 4 wheel drive maybe necessary if ice is an issue. In which case, a JD or good old TW/TM might fit the bill. I once used a 22 m3 wagon on an old TW 30! No problem. Perhaps I’m thinking too far back!!

You do realise that this is a 30 cube wagon you expect to use with 105hp compared to your specific example of a 22 cube behind a 188hp [177 net iirc] tractor?

I don’t know how big our wagons are but you can get about 28000lbs on them max. A 140hp? 7430 can’t start it loaded and can’t pull it while pto is on over 3.5mph.

One of them is run by a 7810 JD and the other is on a 7200R JD. The 7810 is maxed out, I wouldn’t want to go any smaller. The pto clutches are the biggest weak point as we start fully loaded most days.

When you commit to a wagon you need to be committed to having a good reliable machine on the front or it’s nothing but a headache. Scrambling around swapping tractors, getting parts overnighted etc etc adds up.

Mechanic has been all through it and serviced her for us. It’s a Spanish import so is in absolutely immaculate condition. Totally gutted that it hasn’t got the flow but agreed it’s on the small side. We bought a wagon that size because it was economical to do so as it was second hand. It doesn’t have to be filled. We have a wide angled pto so as not to have to stop and start it full all the time which does help.

We do have a 200hp Valtra that sat on it last winter but it’s too complicated for the job too many electrics and the tractor driver gets fussy if we jump in it with leggings on.

Quite agree if I’m honest think we may have to accept that we will have to spend more money and get something that’s ontop of the job

Keep the Tiger spotless in a dry shed and take it to classic and vintage tractor shows and runs. A pristine example in the UK is a rare beast indeed and probably worth show money, not farm money, to the right people.

I hadn’t read the OP properly. For a 30 I’d say at least 180/200 to be on top of the whole job, so forget my ideas!
