skyscraper looks like it could be our keeper along with the much maligned gravity which considering the growing season and place in the rotation and fields looks really well ,saki is on its first year and time will tell as we will wait until harvest ,gleam has taken some keeping clean so likely to face a reduction as for anything new will wait until ive had a look at a couple of the local trial sites extase didnt get a chance here last year but will consider it and have not yet ruled out grafton for that early fit land spot if we can find any

Gravity is the one wheat I’ve had go flat when I grew it two years ago.
Costello yielded very well last year. Just couldn’t get seed when I wanted it this year

Only second year for us growing firefly and last year was a shocker all round, but it looks very good at the min and nice and clean, we have tried several new ones over the last few years but are struggling to find one that stays for long, Einstein and jb Diego were the last ones for us that stood the test of time, will be trying some extase this time with some more firefly if all goes to plan.

I would suggest Extase. Septoria very strong as are it's YR scores. As it is a french wheat has different parents to most other varieties so may allay any fears around this which seem to be cropping up at the moment.

I need to replace Skyfall for this autumn drilling. It’s breaking then to rust and has had its day now.

Will carry Graham for another year, hopefully more.

So what varieties are worth looking at?

Note I’m in the SW so good septoria scores are a must!
Olympus from Pearce Seeds, great disease resistance and lots of straw

Funny enough one of my bits of skyfall is for then on a seed contract.

Have a meeting Thursday to discuss seed crops for next year, they are talking about KWS Dawsum.

They think it’s the new Extase.

Yep, KWS Dawsum looks good on paper.
It’s Kerrin x Costello, so maybe not as susceptible to breaking down to yellow rust as most of their varieties. Extase is totally different genetics again, so I personally feel it might last longer than most of the KWS varieties.
